I suppose this threatens to devolve into politics, but perhaps we can keep it away if we all really try ...

Did anyone else watch the live "debate" on The West Wing last night? What did you think?

I have two main reactions ... Ellen DeGeneres is really annoying, and Alan Alda is one absolutely terrific actor.

Alan Alda actually wouldn't do too bad in office if he wanted to run. I mean Fred Grandy and the late Sonny Bono gave it a shot. Also, that one fella who had been a pro football player...Steve something or other.

I watched parts of it and loved it... I wish that would have been a real debate. Intense.

I am totally at a loss as who to expect to win the election. I expect that it might be Alda but Smitts winning would be the ultimate comeback story.

Entirely independent of my own political bent, I'm rooting for Alda's character. I think the formula has gotten more than a little tired in the series, and a Santos presidency would essentially be more of the same. Having a Republican President (albeit not a very realistic Republican) would offer some fresh plot possibilities.

Besides, Alda is a far better actor, IMHO.
