Great news Sunny! What about your homes? What about those whose homes won't be ready? Commute from Baton Rouge?

They have begun repairs on my building Cajunmama, so I am able to live in my place. I THINK the plan is for those who lost homes and have rented places here, for those people to stay here until January 1 or until they can secure housing closer. I do not wish that commute on anyone. We have lost quite a few people who couldn't find housing here, and were making the daily drive. They just couldn't do it.

I know, I know...this song is about going "home" in the Heavenly way. But I can't help singing it now, after hearing Sunny's news. :)

Home Where I Belong by B.J. Thomas

"They say that heavens pretty,
and living here is too.
But if they said that I would have to choose between the two.
I'd go home,
going home,
where I belong.
And sometimes when I'm dreaming,
it comes as no surprise.
That if you look and see the homesick feeling in my eyes.
I'm going home,
going home,
where I belong.
While I'm here I'll serve Him gladly,
and sing Him all my songs.
I'm here,
but not for long.
And when I'm feeling lonely,
and when I'm feeling blue.
It's such a joy to know that I am only passing through.
I'm headed home,
going home,
where I belong.
And one day I'll be sleeping,
when death knocks on my door.
And I'll awake and find that I'm not homesick anymore.
I'll be home,
going home,
where I belong."

That's sweet, duckie :D

I've got a couple of "home" songs running through my head right now - "Closer to my Home" by Grand Funk and "Like Coming Home" by Lone Star

Great news sunny! It will be nice to be back in your own place.

Speaking of songs, after moving from city to city for a few weeks and finally headed home this past weeked, I was listening to an Eagles CD in my car, which was packed so high I could barely see out. On my way home, I panicked realizing there was a curfew in Beaumont and I wasn't sure I would be able to exit. I couldn't go back to the hotel and then "Take it Easy" came on...

Well, I'm a runnin' down the road, tryin' to loosen my load,
got a world of trouble on my mind.

Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand,
just find a place to make your stand and take it easy.

I dunno...but whenever I hear that song now, I'll remember exactly where I was on the highway late that night. One of those little things...

Great News Cindy!!!Hopefully life will be closer to normal when you get home. Does your company have plans to try and get back the workers that couldn't handle the commute or were they not commuting from the NO area?

Thank you Eric and David :D

I HOPE they will have made arrangements to re-hire the people who couldn't handle the commute, David. A lot of these people were good and hard workers. I would like to see them come back. Not to mention the fact that they are already familiar with how the firm operates. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Normal commute time between NO and BR would be 1 1/2 hours one way. With the added traffic it became 3 to 4 hours one way. If I had to make the commute daily, I probably would have been one of the ones to fall. I am lucky, Brandon and Christy live about 30 miles from here, so I've been staying with them. I felt bad with Brandon just coming home from Iraq, even though they assured me time and time again that they wouldn't have it any other way. I will miss the baby, though. I've gotten quite used to seeing that precious face every day.
