I'm having major problems just accessing stuff. I have trouble scrolling, it takes several clicks to bring the start menu and favorites etc. up and takes several clicks of the mouse to get the cursor where you want it. The problems started yesterday morning but are getting worse as time goes along. First it was just a scrolling problem, but now it's everything else. Everything else is fine, the keyboard works, the volume works, once things are up, they work. I'm thinking it's the mouse, it's an optical one, could that be the problem?

It's very very annoying. :grr: :grr: :grr: I've never had a problem like this before...

I'm no expert, but did you jiggle the connection where it plugs into your tower? Do you have an old mouse to try in it's place?

Use elimination.

Take a mouse and put it in there and see if its a mouse problem. I'm betting that it is.

I'm thinking it is. It comes and goes... right now it's working a lot better than it was 10 minutes ago.

:wall: :larrow: Do that to the mouse - You'll either fix it or break it for good.

What type of mouse is it?

Also, if it is optical did you recently clean the surface you use the mouse on?

Does the bottom of the mouse have any dust/dirt?

Do the batteries need replacing?

Is anything obstructing the line of sight to the receiver?

Get a new mouse. They don't cost that much and I am betting it's the mouse. If everything else works, and the only problem seems to be with scrolling and clicking, it has to be the mouse. Also my friend had the same problem as well she could'nt get the mouse to go where she wanted, she went through the same what is its. She went out and got a new mouse and voila, all fixed.

I had EXACTLY the same problem last week. I call it the furry mouse syndrome. I tried to clean it out.. it can get really gunky in there. Especially if your house is as tidy and dust free as mine is..  However even cleaning it would not work and the stupid curser was just stuck on my screen. I went out and got a cordless infared mouse and now I have no problems and I dont think this kind will suffer from furry mouse syndrome in the future!!!!!!

I have an optical laser mouse... no need to clean it. Yeah... it's still sluggish today although not as bad as last night so it looks like I'll be going mouse shopping.
