wore bell bottoms in school. I had to wear them ONCE in junior high because my dad bought them. I hated them with so much passion. They were red bell bottoms. I get pissed off just thinking about them...

wxcrazytwo- I suspect you wore them much more recently than myself and the others who replied. At the time we wore them it was the style, along with a bunch of other things we wouldn't dream of wearing now. We chose to wear them, so no, we wouldn't have been pissed off about it.

I just got this mental image of Dennis and Steve in there groovey duds, bell bottoms, platform shoes and really pointy collars on there shirts. EEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK make it stop....

LOL.. I think every generation has clothes they cringe at when they look back.

I take that, I last wore them in 1989-1991 while I was in the NAVY.

Bell Bottoms? An artifact of the 60's. I don't remember them coming back into style in the 80's. Was pop's a former hippie, clinging to the old ways?

I have this picture when I was five of me wearing these bright red bellbottoms with this funky flowered dress over the top. Why my mom thought it was cute, I will never know!!!

The funny thing is, I have a pair of the newer version of bell bottom jeans in my closet that I wear ocassionally, but they are much more subdued and not nearly as wide as that pair - but I stay far away from funky flowered dresses!

Wasn't the preppie thing in by then? Alligator shirts and stuff if I remember right. I can see where you wouldn't have been happy about it.

Yeah, I only wore them once, then I transferred my clothes to alligator shirts and preppy sweaters and boater shoes...

Not only did I want to wear the bell bottoms often, but I kept running out of butch wax to grease up my hair!!

I was in a band, you know. The Incidents is who we were...and after rethinking those days, perhaps The Accidents might have been more appropriate.

LOL... Steve, I have a photo of my dad with the "grease" look. I still tease him about it.

Oh.. bellbottom pants were "in" for awhile back in the earlyish '90's. Jeans were anyway.

Do any of you remember bellbottoms being called "elephant pants"?? That's what I remember them as being called, and yes I had several pairs. Worn ofcourse with my platform shoes!! What a gross thought?! Now I wear straight legged Wranglers ONLY

Yup! I was in 7th - 8th grade when they were popular, so that would have been 1977 or '78. I remember spending all of my babysitting money on H*A*S*H jeans (yes, that was the brand name) and wanting new ones all of the time b/c the pockets had different stitching - I think I had 6-7 pairs (and that was a LOT of babysitting, since the jeans were $25 and I got 75 cents an hour).
