You Know It's Hot When...

#1 Postby Dee Bee » Sat Aug 20, 2005 10:09 pm

You know it's hot when

...the birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

...the trees are whistling for the dogs.

...the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

...hot water comes out of both taps.

...you can make sun tea instantly.

...you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

...the temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.

...you discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.

...you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

...you actually burn your hand opening the car door.

...you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.

...your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"

...you realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

...the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out, and add butter, salt and pepper.

...farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

...the cows are giving evaporated milk.

That joke was originally printed in a Phoenix Newspaper and in Phoenix there many nights when the temperature does NOT drop below 95F. Arizona is where you learn that asphalt truly has a liquid state.

Well, FL will never get as hot as AZ which is where that joke comes from, but Yuma does get as humid as Miami as witnessed by this morning's 2 AM observation-temperature 87, dewpoint 80.

I feel so bad about that one... I was in a rush and put my daughter into her carseat and never gave it another thought about the heat. As I pushed the plastic piece of the buckle into the slot, the metal was in contact with her little leg... she actually got a blister on the inside of ther thigh now.. I feel so awful. Word of caution to parents, test the heat of a kids seat belt.. Im sorry I did not!

Steve... cool down....  I dont think I could ever live in your neck of the woods, I have been in hibernation here in Florida because I cant handle the heat here!

Great. I could not stop laughing. I drove all over town today in my mini-van with no AC. I thought I was gonna melt!
