I nearly fell over when I saw the latest numbers.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm
Lowest approval rating ever for this President. It'll be interesting to see how he recovers from this. I expect that the congressional republicans will start distancing themselves from him very soon. These are the type of numbers that could lead to a stunning result in election '2006.

He doesn't have any need to recover from this. You're probably right that congress will be distancing themselves from him though.
I've been predicting Democrat voictories in 2006 and 2008, and Bush's approval ratings do seem to indicate that. We shall see.

That is true. But his 2nd term agenda is pretty much finished if these numbers hold up not that social security reform wasn't already dead. Plus he'll be looking to build a legacy and these type of numbers will leave him with a legacy all right but not the kind he wants.
I think Bush is now the most unpopular 2nd term president ever.

Don't worry. I promise to keep it "clean" on my end. These numbers just shocked me so much that I had to post.

Well the media isn't helping with it's daily coverage of Cindy Sheehan.

Well, politically speaking.
He (President) doesn't help the cause for his falign numbers.

The thing that struck me most was that this is Rasmusen Reports, probably the most accurate polling firm out there. They nailed Election 2004 right on the head. I was a bit skeptical that his ratings were really 45-46% etc but if this poll says 43%, I believe it. LOL

The strength of each group's positive or negative feelings toward the president are telling, too.
If you look at the blue box in the upper left-hand corner, you will see that nearly 3/4 of the people who disapprove of the job the president is doing disapprove of it strongly, while only half of the people who approve of his job have equal confidence in their judgement.
That tells me that things are most likely to go down - not up - from here, because more people who said they approve of the presidents performance are sitting closer to the proverbial fence. Nearly half of the people who approve are doubtful; only a quarter of those who disapprove are equally indecisive.
Of course, dramatic events can throw even the most logical polling trend out of whack.... but if its more of the same....I doubt 43% will be Bush's all-time low....

Gas went up 14 cents over the past 3 days, from a $2.55 to $2.69 (reg UL)on avg.
All thanks to Mr. Bush who has done squat to stop the out of control Oil priceing. just think we have 3 more years of this crap. what will the price of gas be then??? $5 or $6 bucks a gallon and still fighting a losing war effert.
SORRY!!!! for the rant........

I'm guessing gas will level out at around $3 per gallon national average.
if it goes above that, the demand willd rop significantly. I think at that price point people will really look for workable (though maybe inconvenient) alternatives (carpools, mass transit, etc).
