If I didn't know better, I'd SWEAR FALL is here!! Fall like temps, fall winds and certain plants are showing signs of an EARLY, EARLY Autumn!! I was in the backyard yesterday for the first time in a week, my Autumn Blaze Maples are turning RED, my Burning Bush's are turning RED, the Virginia Creepers are RED, Autumn Joy Sedums are RED, the Autumn Asters are in FULL bloom, the wild sunflowers have lost all their pedals..........like I said, you can call me crazy but I truly believe we're in for a early, cold autumn with a EARLY winter in the cards!

They did have snow above 7,000 feet in Montana the other day.

You could be right Dennis. This past spring and our summer has been full of extremes for us (in my neck of the woods). It's been one of the coolest springs on record and though in 2002 we had a record 46 days of above 90 degree temps, we're at about 26 days now. Fortunately this summer we've had the rain to go with it whereas in 2002 we were in a drought situation.

I do hope for the SW's sake that the mountains are blessed with alot of snow this coming winter.

Sounds llike you could be right in your assessment of the situation in your area. It would be a nice change from some of the past falls and winters, wouldn't it?

I ahd to go back and look at my station's archives to find a 50F reading - it was 6/1! Upper 20s? Late March! I could use some of that Montana weather, I've got cross-country practice (distance running) and it's supposed to be 91 with heat indeces back over 100 again (3rd straight practice). Man, i should move

I've seen snow fall in the Sierra and Wasatch in July and in the CO Rockies in August so snow above 7k in Montana in August is not unusual-uncommon perhaps but not unusual. Meanwhile the monsoon has given us 2.87in of rain this weekend.

WELL.....I've got the forced air FURNACE running as I post this, we just had 1.28" of rain in 48 minutes with dime sized hail and now it's 56° It's down right CHILLY for August (the reason I'm cold, I just woke up from a 2 hour NAP! ) Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

However, I'd settle for 70's - we really didn't have much of that this past Spring!

I got a power washer for my birthday from my brothers and mother ( we've all been asking for one). I went out yesterday and today to use it on the house and I STILL looked as red as a beet when I came inside!

Here in Maine it looks like fall! The leaves are dieing the grass is turning brown! but its not an early fall here! We have barely gotten any rain this month! We are like way below normal and what rain we do get comes in thunderstorm down poors and never has a chance to get into the ground! but one good thing is that it has been raining tonight so maybe that will help some! lol

HOT HOT AND HOT ......I think owning a air condition company would be good right now...

And yet MORE signs this morning.......SPIDERS in the HOUSE Yes, I'm man enough to admit, spiders scare the living crap outta me, ESPECIALLY the BROWN RECLUSE I killed this MORNING!! The field mice are looking for a nesting spot, "Not in MY house on MY WATCH!" Saw 2 mice inside yesterday evening, sat 2 traps and in less than 15 minutes *snap*

ED....PLEASE don't send the heat this way, I had my record breaking temps last month, 101° was ENOUGH!!

No FALL here. More like the middle of a humid summer for me.

BROWN RECLUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES

It's so dry and hot here that almost everything is turning brown. All of my perennials have bloomed out early and the trees are dropping their leaves. I'll send you some heat if you'll send me some rain.
