From Drudge:
OFFICIALS WARN: POSSIBILITY OF ATTACKS AROUND SEPT. 11
Thu Aug 11 2005 22:15:46 ET
A group of FBI counterterrorism analysts warned this week of possible terrorist attacks in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago around Sept. 11, the NEW YORK TIMES is planning to report on Firday, but officials cautioned that they were skeptical about the seriousness of the threat.
The warning grew out of intelligence developed from an overseas source indicating that terrorists might seek to steal fuel tanker trucks in order to inflict "mass casualties" by staging an anniversary attack, officials said.
The information led FBI joint terrorism task forces in Los Angeles and Newark, N.J., to alert other government and law enforcement officials privately this week about the threat, law enforcement officials said. Several government officials in Washington who were briefed on the threat said it was described as credible and specific enough to warrant attention.

I listen to the warnings but I am not going to let terrorist interfere with my life. I can not go around everyday worrying about terrorists attacking us because if I do they have won. I had to have faith in God and the government (government will be able to prevent it).

Unfortunately this is a way of life for us now. The building I am in advised us to have an "evacuation bag" with suggested items in it at our desk. All you can do is pay attention and listen to the warnings.

I hope it doesn't materialize, obviously. They still haven't found that tanker stolen in NJ over a year ago!
That being said, agree with beachbum, etc. that we still need to live our lives.

Someone who thinks like ME, except for the last part of course. Working in law enforcement, getting all the BOLO's (be on the look out) ATL'S (attempt to locate) from the feds, REALLY makes me wonder WHO'S BS'ing WHO here!

Yawn. I highly doubt anything will come of this.

That's a Sunday. What targets would they hit? Churches, sporting events? For what time would the attacks be planned? Too iffy...I doubt they'll do anything.

Sunny,
Never heard of an "evacuation bag". What are you supposed to keep in it?
What purpose is it supposed to serve?

The building I work in is considered by the City as one that could be a possible target. I keep a pair of tennis shoes at my desk now (a hike down 43 flights of stairs in heels ain't no fun, let me tell you!) They suggested we have a bag with a bottle of water, a face cloth to put over your nose and mouth, a flash light, scissors (in case you have to cut anything), one of the glass puncture things, a first aid kit. That type of thing.

9/11, 3/11, 7/7, the dates all stand out.
9/9 anyone???
Just some uneducated guesses...

If they're planning an anniversary attack (which I highly doubt), I would think they'd have their supplies ready by now, instead of
seeking fuel tankers. They spent years planning 9/11.

For those of you unaware..
September 11th is the opening day of football season. {or 2nd week}
That is where they can get the mass casualties from..

That's neat...
Today, the Homeland Security Dept. lowered the threat for mass ground transit, which was raised after the London attacks. This is when I think the terrorists will hit, when we're least expecting it(or at least, after a threat is lowered).

I should have known that...
I would imagine security will be extra tight that day being that it will be 9/11.
The thing that concerns me is the 4th anniversary really doesn't stand out... the media will cover it, but not as much as the previous anniversaries and most people probably won't be as alert being that it's on a weekend...
