*music fades in*........"It's the most wonderful time, it's most wonderful time of the Yyyyyyeaaaaar!" School that IS 8-) School starts here the 10th of August and honestly, I cannot WAIT....this has been, BEYOND a shadow of a doubt, the BUSIEST summer ANYONE has EVER seen on the mountain. Retail sales and tax revenue are up MORE than 28% of last year!!!! When does your schools start?

Dennis - you start this thread every year and I post pretty say much the same thing every year too.....LOL We could recycle my old replies...he he.

I'm never happy when school starts again.

I love having my girls home with me! Sigh, but they have to go, I know that. What I don't miss is getting up at 5:40 every morning...ugh. And I do like the relaxed mode we get into and I'll be honest, I enjoy being with them. Always have.

That said, this is going to be new to our family - sending our oldest off to college in a few weeks. Now that's a big change. 95% of me is very happy for her and I'm so glad she gets to attend college (something I didn't do until age 30). A small part of me will be sad, that one phase is ending and another is starting. But life goes on - you can't stop it!

And everytime you start this thread, I am reminded of that Staples commercial, with the dad singing this song and his kids furious he's so happy!

Some things never change....

Public schools started here yesterday. I was happy to see the pool empty but then it rained all day--LOL. My GS starts daycare next week and I am really gonna miss the little bugger. Since I am workling from home now it will be good to have some quiet. His mom starts college close to the end of the month. By then I will be out seeing patients so it wont matter if it is quiet here--LOL :D

Yeah, I remember when we had a full 3 months of summer vacation. Now they barely get 2 months. We always started right after Labor Day.

Amen to that Big Brother.

God forbid we have a major hurricane here, they HAVE to make up the days missed because of this.

Same here.

Seems summer vacation has all but disappeared for many of the nation's kids these days. And then, too, many have started going year-round.
