I just heard the wierdest clap of thunder outside..

It was loud and it seemed to be repeated.. like It was more than 1 or something..

I then quickly ran outside for a sec to see if there's anything wierd going on.. I haven't seen any funnel clouds.. and it's only lightly raining with a slight breeze..

 scared me though.. as a 98 tornado survivor and the 3 hurricanes last year

Weird... We've been having amazing lightning storms here in West Houston for the past 3 nights. No thunder though...

About 3pm we had a bad thunderstorm/lightening storm come through here. I heard the wind start to blow and sent the kids into the hallway thinking that maybe a funnel cloud was forming. Nothing though.

Last month... we had a terrible storm here(well, we have terrible storms a lot), but there was a lightning strike like I had never seen before... I didn't see it, but the thunder was the loudest I've ever heard. It set off the burgular alarm at the bank just up the street and it blared for 2 hours... At first I was convinced it had struck a house... it was not your typical strike, it sounded different, like something exploding.

Consider yourself lucky. I live in Sebring, about 45 min south of you. We had one whopper of a storm that lasted over an hour. Saw the weather report on Fox13 just after it moved on. The lighting strikes between us had completely whited out a large swath from you to me. Glad it is gone. Lights went out twice but didn't stay out long. Messed up my DSL connection. I had to call and get help to get it reset.

Are you implying that we are under some kind of alien attack...If we are I'll need to go pick up a bunch of Mountain Dew... I will never make it though a alien invasion without alot of Mountain Dew....

Something similar happened to me a couple of times.... heard really strange sounding thunder on clear days...I finally found out what it was... "bombing practice" at Camp Blanding, a military base just north of me in Jacksonville. they make the weirdest noises out there!!!

 Huh... it was around that same time here in Orlando - we had earlier heavy rain and some lightning/thunder, then was really quite for a couple of hours, just drizzly rain. Then suddenly: BRIGHT burgundy/reddish flash, LOUD boom, secondary red flash (no more booms). House lights flickered and VCR (acting as tuner for an older TV) turned itself off. Microwave and alarmclock times went to blinking and needed to be set. I am GLAD that we have the PC/printer and the main TV and all the home theatre gear to where pulling two power plugs, a phone cord and one co-ax connector keeps it all from bad weather. Yesterday (Thursday) was one of those times - I saw those sick looking clouds and how the lightning hits on the TV radar were freaking out. Out went the plugs and cords until very late evening.
