And your point iss....

#1 Postby GardenStateWx » Thu Jul 28, 2005 8:49 pm

Are there things that people do that just make you wonder "Why the heck are they doing that?"

I don't understand why people put candy in the fridge, I mean does it enchance the taste somehow? Is it going to magically taste better? The only thing freezing your candy does is make it hard to chew and make it cold. First off, I don't want my candy cold and second, making it hard to chew accomplishes nothing. Why people bother freezing reese cups or 3 musketeer bars baffles me....if you buy a damn chocolate bar, eat it right there

In this heat it will melt. Putting it in the fridge keeps it solid and nice and cool. And I won't rush to the store every time I want to eat a chocolate bar. That's why I buy cheaper in boxes and store it in cool places including the fridge.

AND, nothing beats a frozen Snickers bar (the real kind, not the ice cream kind). Mmmm.

They are great, or a frozen Twix, although most of the time I don't freeze Twix, just put them in the fridge to remain cool.

Have you ever tried to clean melted candy bar off a kid? Or better yet their cloths??? In this heat they are all squishy and melted before you take it out of the wrapper. Stick it in the fridge and it's so much less messy!

Only way to keep a chocolate bar from melting. Wait they already melt on the way home to the house so your only option is to put them in the fridge or freezer to make them a candy bar again. Otherwise you have one big mess!

In houses where there are no candy eaters, candy frequently ends up in the freezer... People are always bringing us candy--nice candy. But we seldom eat candy... So we find petrified candy from 5 years ago... We think we will avoid this problem by freezing it... Of course it does not work--because then the old candy is now frozen--and you are right--it does not taste better frozen We've old halloween candy, old Valentine's day candy, old Easter candy, etc.

When my daughter was little, every year she wanted an Easter Basket with a chocolate rabbit. And every year she took a few bites of the ears and put the rest in the freezer. When we moved, I tossed about 10 frozen chocolate bunnies... So finally, when she was a teenagers, I found a package that just had "ears" (with no attached rabbit). That elicited an "Oh, Maaaaa......!!!!!" but the remnants of the ears went in the freezer also...

Her kids do the same thing. You give them candy and they eat a little, and store the rest in the freezer. But at least it is in her freezer and not in mine. We've never figured out exactly what to do with all the candy. You'd think in a household with 5 kids, one of them would have a sweet tooth...

But you are right--if you don't store it in the freezer, then you forget about it and it melts into a gloppy mess somewhere and is a cleaning nightmare or ant bait or something horrendous! So storing it in the freezer is the path of least resistance.

Hmmm let me think of things that bother the heck out of me...

Mmm. I've got a few that I can't say here. But I absolutely HATE it when you stop in gas stations between Louisiana and Tennessee and the... products... they sell in the freakin' gross restrooms. I mean, is that REALLY necessary?!
