Space Shuttle Hits Bird on Liftoff!

#1 Postby micktooth » Tue Jul 26, 2005 7:16 pm

Since this is a somewhat slow day in the tropics, how about the "dumb animal award" to the bird which got hit by a spacecraft upon liftoff. I can't even get a bird to sit still in my yard for a simple photograph!

They mentioned something about a tile earlier today...............

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8562942/

"A 1½-inch-wide bit of tile captured on camera appeared to fly off the shuttle’s belly, on the edge of a door that encloses the nose landing gear. It was not clear if the tile had been struck by anything."

IMO, MSNBC was very negative during the coverage today...........

Yeah, not only was it probally severley injured if not killed on impact, when the space shuttle got above it, it probally got incenerated from the Rocket Boosters.

Actually on the news I heard they didn't know exactly where it came off of. I mean i guess it was a tile, but they called it an unknown piece of tile so i guess they didn't know its true origins.
