Gosh this had to hurt like heck. I winced seeing this picture

She's such a trooper though and plans to start diving again as soon as medically cleared to!! She definitely will get my cheers in the future! You go girl!

I saw the video on the news, she hit pretty hard and the way she was spinning she's lucky she didn't split her head wide open.

I'm glad she's all right, but I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

Bonk!
(Another inch in, and she'd have mashed her nose....)

Being a swimmer and one who is around divers [but can't dive myself] ... I can't even begin to tell you how much that would hurt. If that was me, I would've rather blacked out on contact. At least I wouldn't have felt the pain. Yeesh.

Greg Louganis (sp) all over again.
I'm a lifeguard and we absolutely DO NOT allow inwards off the board... for that particular reason. Even though there is a hospital a block away, the YMCA/lifeguard will be held liable for any damages to the person.
I've jammed my ankle on the springboard doing a 3 step approach... and I thought that hurt... I can't imagine the face!

Yeh i saw that earlier this week on Yahoo pics. That was awfully nice of the Canadian lady to help out her fellow competitor/neighbor.
