The Amazing Resiliency of Children

A few days ago my13 mos old grand-nephew was accidently run over completely over by the tire of a truck. He escaped with no more than a bone chip of the back of his pelvis. No internal injuries. The tire went over his whole lower torso. It's amazing how resilient kids can be. We are so fortunate to still have him with us and so unharmed.

Yes, he is! As of 2 days ago he was only taking regular tylenol for the soreness.

TazzyD...you are lucky, and yes they are resilient.
I learned that lesson a zillion years ago when I was 16 and working my first job in the local hospital as a janitor.
I was asked to bring some special medication to the pediatric ward where I met a young patient...perhaps 6 or 7, who had burned and disfigured terribly on one side of her arm and face.
I wanted to cry; maybe I did.
But in the days and weeks that followed that little lady was making those around her smile and laugh with her quick quips and selfless remarks. She went through so much, and I often wonder how she might be doing today somewhere.
And one of the best examples of resiliency is young Bethany Hamilton of Kauai, Hawaii, who lost her arm in a shark attack while she was surfing.
Two years after that, she is a wonderful inspiration for many and just won a major surfing competition in California a few weeks ago....with only one arm!
How right you are about their resiliency. We can learn a lot from them.

Oh what a lucky little girl. Yes, give her a gentle ((Hug)) from us.
Years ago one of my third grade Sunday School class students was run over by a car. Four men actually had to lift the car off of her. She did not have one scratch or one broken bone. God works miracles!!

What an amazing miracle!! You give that baby special luvin's from us too! I'm a true believer that God gave little ones softer bones to help through the minor accidents of toddlerhood, but your nephews story is amazing. He must have some very loving angles watching over him. His parents and family need big *hugs* too as I am sure it was also a traumatic experience for them, but a family strengthening one as well. These scary type of moments have a way of bringing appreciation of our loved ones to a whole new level.
