Ok, so this will be the thread where we can actually discuss!
I have SO many questions, but the biggest looming on my mind....
Is Snape still actually good? In the Order of the Phoenix... Was this the ultimate trickery to stay in as a spy with the Death Eaters?
Here is why I'm thinking so:
Remember (p. 405) where Hagrid is talking about a fight he overheard between Dumbledore and Snape? Snape was saying that "he didn't want to do it anymore" but Dumbledore told him that "he had agreed and that was that"
Plus, I could tell through the whole book that Dumbledore was preparing Harry for his death, arming him with all information necessary... True he was getting old, but even on the final night, he was almost showing Harry how to find and get to the Horcruxes, picking up on the magical traces left behind to find hidden things, etc etc...
And WHY did Dumbledore ONLY want Snape to come to the rescue, once they had gotten back into Hogsmeade? (and this was before they had even seen the dark mark) Slughorn could have made a potion to cure him... Maybe Dumbledore knew it was time, and wanted Snape to come kill him?
But, the last thing that makes me question all my other reasoning about this is at the very end, when Snape arrives and kills Dumbledore. Why did Dumbledore plead to Severus? To save his life? Or was he pleading for Snape to get it overwith, and make sure he carries through with it?
Ok, discuss!
