I thought I'd let you know how bad this country is, every post I make highlights the fact slightly... So let me give you an indication of out telephone companies prices... ( yes we only have 1 telephone company in South africa)...
Prices have been translated to american dollars. Prices not precise

phone line rentals :: $10 p/m

56k :: Modem ($35-$50),Service provider ($10-$20 p/m),Phonecalls ($1-$4 per hour)

ISDN (64k) :: Modem ($40-$65), ISDN service ($20 p/m), Service provider ($15-$30 p/m), phonecalls ($1-$4 per hour)

ISDN (128k) :: Modem ($40-$65), ISDN service ($30 p/m) Service provider ($15-$25 p/m), phonecalls ($2-$8 per hour)

ADSL (384k) :: Modem ($80-$120), ADSL service ($80 p/m) Service provider ($30-$50 p/m), phonecalls (free) CAPPED

ADSL (512k) :: Modem ($80-$120), ADSL service ($100 p/m) Service provider ($30-$50 p/m), phonecalls (free) CAPPED

Note : ADSL service providers listed come with a 3 gig data transfer CAP ( Any data both incoming and outgoing is added , so once you reach your 3 gig, international sites get throttled to the point of inability to browse or download ) And as from 1st August it is rumoured they will start to CAP local aswell, meaning your internet is worthless when you are capped.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm sure you can see why I am so irratated at them, I currently am running the 384K DSL, and getting capped, is NOT a nice thing :)
