We plan to tonight at the beach (with a post-big-bangs cleanup planned as well).

I am SOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo JEALOUS  What I'd give to able to shoot bottle rockets again. Growing up, we'd visit my grandparents farm in West Texas, us kids would BLOW through $40 worth (that was a LOT back then, the 1960's!)

We got back from the park a little while ago. We are setting off some bottlerockets and stuff out back. Well, I should say that I am not, but that the family is. We are waiting to watch the huge fireworks display that they set off from the park in about a half hour. We have a great view here and don't have to fight the crowds afterward. We just fight them during the day while we are socializing and eating BBQ Chicken from the Lion's Club. Yummy! :)

I've been watching on TV in between tropical updates... can't shoot any off this year because of the baby, but people across the street were earlier... BIG TIME. Surprisingly, he slept through it.

against the law here

We have new laws here this year. Fire works are banned unless they are sponsored by Ron Jon's Surf Shop or other approved displays. They do a good job. Anyway, the law isn't working. The air is so thick with smoke, the sky is so full of explosions, the cops are so not around, makes you want to crawl into a bunker.

Fireworks in every direction from sundown to 3 a.m. since Friday. Same as always... :D

Dude, you vacationed in Kentucky?!?!?!? Where? Unless you went to UK in Lexington and saw the fireworks at Commonwealth Stadium, or maybe something in Louisville, I can't imagine anywhere else where they'd have decent fireworks. And even those (in Lex and Lou) can't compare to the stuff I've seen since I moved down here.

And I have to ask again -- Kentucky? What'd you do? I can name on one hand the sites to see in KY. (Just kidding...I just got bored with it after 25 years.)

As for me, I just got back from a two-hour trip on Captain John's Party Boat. Originally, it was going to cost us $25 per person and the boat was going to leave the harborside of the island (north side) and go around to the coastside so we could watch the fireworks over the water...while we were over the water. :) But earlier reports to Capt. John were that the waters in the GOM were too choppy. So, he said he'd take up into Galveston Bay and we could watch the fireworks in Galveston from a distance, along with being able to see the fireworks in Texas City to the west, Kemah to the north, and Bolivar to the east. AND, it was free since it wasn't what was planned and since we wouldn't be quite as close to any one particular show.

It was cool! :)

I saw the 'Big Bang' fireworks in Milwaukee during Summerfest on the 3rd and watched Neenah's fireworks tonight (I just returned from traffic war)... Milwaukee's were 45 minutes long...5 ground shows.... 10 minute grand finale... they were awesome!

Neenah's were pretty good for Neenah... I really can't compare MKE to neenah, but I enjoyed it.... I missed Menasha's (on the 1st) Appleton's were on the 3rd also....

Yep...we did it up last night for sure. I can't remember most of them.

Swimdude, where in Kentucky were you? Cincinnati has a decent display here, but it was the night before last.

Bottlerockets are illegal in Kansas, and I don't know why. OH well. Fireworks are fun. :)

We had a few bottlerockets fire off property that night. Luckily no one was hurt.

Most fireworks are illegal in IL... but are legal in Indiana. So many go and buy them there and they always show on the news how they are doing big busts on people bringing em back here. They aren't very effective. The suburbs are not so bad... but here by my house (live on the southwest side of metro chicago) it literally sounds like a war on the 4th. There are so many fireworks going off there is a foggy haze in the air.

We only buy the legal stuff that the kids use with strong supervision (sparklers, snakes, the little pops you throw on the ground and the pull types with confetti in them). We just watch everyone else blowing the big stuff off around us as the hubby showers our house and garage roof with water to make sure the house doesn't catch on fire. Hubby and I say let others burn their money for our enjoyment! Only wasted $7 of ours! *cackles evilly*

Texas Stooge, those bottle rockets ended up in my yard and on my driveway :D I really did have to clean up the trash from someone ele's fireworks. We didn't light any fireworks this year because grandson has spent these last two weeks at his dad's place. Two weeks of quiet will end on Sun when he comes back.

Ya'll need to move to Tennessee. You can easily imagine
that you are on the front lines of a big war, here. I really
believe, that, a month before the holiday, people start
spending their grocery, electric bill, diaper and
baby formula money on fireworks!

YEEEEEHAAAAAWWW!!! There went the Post Office...!!
