Information is very sketchy. They were apparently kidnapped after their mother, her boyfriend, and another child was killed. They have arrested a 42-year-old suspect.

Eight-year-old Shasta Groene, missing with her brother Dylan, 9, since May 16 after the brutal murders of their mother, her boyfriend and their older brother at their Idaho home, was found alive Saturday in a Denny's restaurant in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, NBC News has learned.

Police have arrested a 42-year-old suspect from North Dakota.

Shasta reportedly said Dylan was alive at a house.

During the press conference, they said that they didn't know where Dylan was yet. But earlier their grandmother said they were both found.



Absolutely disgusting that this guy was even on the streets! He's got quite the sexual abuse record going back to 1980, rape of a child.

Why was this sicko even in society? There should be NO tolerance!!

From what they are saying on Fox, this guy preys on young boys.

Yet another sick pervert child molester had the girl. When will our legislators and courts wake up and put the sick bastards away for life? This sick *#&# had a long history of this behavior and yet he is still out on the streets looking for his next victim. That next victim could be your child......MGC

I wonder if the grandmother was trying to mislead FNC... because surely they wouldn't tell her he's found unless they are 100% sure.

No one else ever reported that.

They did... but they don't believe it's true now. In fact, the deputy who just held the news conference said he "doubts" he is alive. The kidnapper could have brainwashed her into saying that.

I know. But when it was reported that Sasha said Dylan was at the house, I was like, okay.

I just turned it on Fox, and they are saying that Dylan is presumed dead. If he were alive, I think they would have him by now.

That scumbag should have been locked up and never given this chance. We need to wake up and put these evil sleazeballs away forever! There should NEVER be a 2nd offense.

I agree 1,000%. Poor little Sasha will be scarred for life because of this sleeze ball.

From what I've heard, this Duncan creep is highly intelligent, knows how to play the system, and his record shows a tendency to torture and threaten his victims (the first, at the age of 16, was a 14-yr-old boy who was fired on twice with an unloaded revolver as part of the rape scenario).

IMHO, we HAVE a new use of closed military bases; make them "sex offender colonies", guarded and monitored 24/7, with the offender required to work and pay their own way.

I just heard they were looking for this Duncan character because he didn't report to his probation officer on another offense

I am so relieved to know she's been found and is in safe hands now. But speaking from a mothers point of view, my heart is breaking knowing what this little 8 year old had to endure. That is the saddest of all - for two months. I fear she'll be effected by this the rest of her life also - how can she not be? Her mother was murdered too. And probably her brother.....if he's alive I hope they find him. That would be one ally she'd have left. She has no one from her immediate family left does she? I'm not clear on if her father or step-father or her mother's boyfriend was also murdered.

Stories like this make your blood boil.

You also want to hug that waitress too. She saved this little girls' life. I think that's what we all need to be doing more of - being on the lookout for creeps like this man and the children.

Her mother, mother's b/f (both loaded up on drugs, from post-mortem examinations) and a 13-yr-old brother were murdered "execution-style" (tied up to chairs and beaten to death with a blunt object). It sin't clear if the children were spared/taken at that time, or ran out and were picked up by this creep in a "moment of opportunity".

Shasta's father drove in from Washington State, and was reported to be with her in the hospital earlier; she has relatives on her father's side in that state.

You're right, Mary; the alertness and actions of the waitress are commendable! Theer are not many people who'd keep their head (she gave the girl crayons and a mask to color, and offered her dessert to keep them until police arrived) in such situations.

I believe this started as some drug dealings gone bad... Mother and her boyfriend were both found to have marijuana and crystal meth in their systems according to the post mortem toxicology reports.

Family lived in a rural part of Idaho, on a desolate road surrounded by woods... could mother and boyfriend been making crystal meth? Had some characters hanging around with sorted pasts? Somehow they must have made someone mad and were murdered along with the 13 yr old boy (whose system was clean from illegal drugs). Did Duncan do this all on his own because he wanted to prey on the 9 yr old boy? Apparently he had a sick demented fetish for young boys. But if he preferred boys why did he let the girl live?

Very sick and demonic and I'm sure Duncan didnt act completely alone...

I just pray that Shasta will have the strength to one day overcome this horrible ordeal and live a productive life. I'm glad she is back with her father and other relatives!
