3rd shark attack

On CNN now. 19 year old tourist minor bite in good condition. Thank god.

All those attacked in the last week have been teenagers.

Troublemakers! Kidding...maybe it has something to do with teens being more willing to take the risk of going into deeper waters or something. Hmm...wonder what's provoking this...must be a lack of natural food or something.

For the fatal attack over last weekend they said the shark likely mistook the girl as food... or she was near fish which the shark was targeting.
In the boy's attack on Monday, since he was fishing with bait, they believe the shark took aim at him for that reason.

They have always been their. I've done fishing on both coast. I've caught more and bigger sharks in the gulf....

you know what? why is it such big news when sharks attack people, last time I checked, sharks lived in water, thus when we, as humans venture into there homes (the water) well, we get what we deserve dont we. If someone broke into your home, you would attack too, wouldnt you? God made fishies to live in the sea, man on land....you do the math!

My brother just got back from a vacation aboard a catamaran. They had engine trouble and were docking at various unfamiliar islands trying to find a part. One morning about seven, my brother dived in the water to swim to the island. He looked back to get his bearings between the ship and land and there were four sharks closing in on him. He barely made it to land. They would not leave so he starting chucking rocks at them. He said he wanted to stun one and throw him on land so he could kill it and have them prepare a meal. My sister in law was on the ship and saw him chucking rocks and didn't know what was going on. The birds on the island starting dive bombing my brother. Finally the sharks left and he swam back to the ship. He's got guts, I would never have gotten back in the water. They went snorkling that afternoon. He told me that the hurricanes destroyed the sandbars and that the sharks wouldn't normally come so close to shore. A volcano erupted and they got to see ash falling (it wasn't fun but interesting).

When I was stationed in St. Pete, I found out that the offshore area of Egmont Key is one of several prime spawning grounds for several species of sharks, including bull sharks...was always a bit cautious when swimming at St. Pete Beach or Ft. DeSoto...

Ft. Desoto pier is one of my favorite overnite shark fising areas.
