Same theory as the old version with some twist....Does end the same and for the same reasons. And you get to see aliens although they look exactly like the ones from Independence Day..I guess that must be what aliens actually look like.. .Special effects are great ..

Not the same sound effect. This one has very little sound but but packs more of a punch.

I'm going sometime this weekend, in between a birthday party and the Fourth festivities. After all, SBC's paying for it, not me, so I won't be contributing to the Scientology Church.

I couldn't boycot this movie, just because of Tom Cruise's odd behavior of late. I certainly don't hate the man but do wonder where his head is at these days. I'll leave it at that, out of respect for Linda - his number 3 remaining fan, behind of course Katie and CajunMama. Or maybe Linda and CM can vie for #2 status....yikes they're both gonna clobber me at this rate.

The main reason I won't boycot the movie is b/c Steven Spielberg is a genius and I enjoy his movies, even if they're far fetched. I love a good disaster movie.

And finally, Spielberg was born in Cincinnati so for another reason, I'll go see it. Don't know when, but I will.

I saw it today for the first time (after not reading the book and not seeing the old version), so I had no idea what was going to happen.

Having said that, I do think that the movie is a "do not miss." The special effects and acting are just top of the line. I"m taking my family to see it tonight (they haven't seen ot yet) and I won't mind seeing it again.

The film did 36 million dollars first day world wide. Not bad for a Wednesday. I guess the protest about his antics isn't working.....
