Wal-Mart founder's son killed in plane crash

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's largest retailer, said John Walton, the second son of its founder, Sam Walton, was killed in a airplane crash on Monday.

Wal-Mart said John Walton was killed when an ultra-light aircraft he was piloting crashed shortly after take-off from the Jackson Hole Airport in Grand Teton National Park.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, Wal-Mart said in a statement.

He was a member of the Wal-Mart board of directors.

Wealthy, semi-rich, Doin' Ok, or poor -- we all share the fact that we will all die.

My sympathies to the Walton Family.

I've learned something being a Wal Mart employee for almost 9 months.. If a fellow associate.. even 1 we don't even know has something tragic happen.. It kinda ripples through the company..

Prime example came earlier this year.. with Megan Leann Holden.. the cashier from Texas who was abducted and murdered .. I had no clue who Megan was.. but it actually struck a chord in me.. and I'm certainly hoping her killer gets the extreme penalty..

I guess working for such a large company does bring that aspect with it.. where even when something happens to someone we don't know.. but is a fellow associate.. we feel for them and especially their loved ones

After back today from a shopping trip to Puerto Rico I was shocked to hear this.

It just makes me wonder why someone with so much money and obvious future would risk their life in a Light-Craft.

It sparks memories of Alexander Onassis and John-John piloting themselves and perishing although they were not flying Light-Craft's. But the thrill to me is not worth it when you have money and potential to live.

Unless the stress got to them and they said "The hell with it"..... But we will never know why any of these 3 crashed.

Why would someone worth 350 mil or so take a chance like this? I have not seen Forbes tally's lately, but it has to be that much...... if not much more.

It would seem more adventurous to hire a Captain and build a huge boat and dive right into a hurricane.

Yes, a sad day for the family.

Yes BILLION my friends.

Why, oh why, would you want to take a risk as he did when everything was pushing up daisies?

I am not sure, but I would hazard a guess and say nothing will happen to the stock if people who are investor's are wise.

He was on the Board Of Directors. His family members and major stockholders are still going to be there to keep the company going.

Life goes on and investors's are wise.

Sad to say this may boost the stock from publicity, Walton Enterprises has a great reputation, this just happen to be a private affair and we should all back off.

How would yu like it if it was your kid bother?

Because Eric... some people always have to take a jab at Walmart no matter the situation.

My prayers are going out to the Walton family. May he rest in peace.
