Sent home from work today.. blah.. :(

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Wed Jun 22, 2005 3:54 pm

and No.. it's not because I did anything wrong..

I have felt like crap since about 3:30 this morning and asked management if they'd let me go.. They did..

I actually have had a good afternoon.. Got some Nyquill and have slept all afternoon.. I'm gonna try to eat something light now and see if I can keep it down..

Normally when I get a "bug" or "virus" it's in me 1 day and out the next.. I already told everybody.. even If I'm worse tomorrow.. I'm not calling in because I can't afford to lose a day and a 1/2 pay lol..

On 1 lighter note.. I had my interview for the pharmacy stocker position this morning.. I hope I get it.. I'll know by Friday.. wish me luck

Well.. off to the kitchen now.. I feel like noodles for some reason lol..

Rest and you will feel better in no time, and soup and sprite is the best thing. :D

Someone at work told me today that I should have got a bottle of sprite too.. I originally thought it wasn't a good idea.. that's why I didn't

I don't have any sick leave where I work at either. (I work at Sears.) And I suffer from a medical condition called IBS. It is a digestive disorder. It is extremly painful when it flares up. Causing severe stomach cramps. Once I had a shift of 1-9. I was not on the clock even 15 minutes. When my stomach started hurting severely. I could barely move and I was almost crying because of the pain. There was no way possible I could stay until 9 p.m. That would have to carry me off in a stretcher. Store manager let me go home. And I could not even drive. I had to leave my car parked in the parking lot. And my mom had to come pick me up. (She took awhile because I live 15 minutes away). And it was a Saturday and lots of traffic. I had to go to the emergency room. Just from missing that one shift at work, my check really suffered. So, sometimes I am forced to go to work even if I am in pain. Unless it gets to that severe level. I hardly ever call in unless it gets really bad to the point where I can't move.

I'm the type of person who will never call in sick unless I absolutely can't move lol..

Today though.. as the warmer air came.. I just started feeling worse and worse.. So I went ahead and asked management to send me home..

Hope you feel better John. Sounds as if you need some good comfort food and R/R.

Cajungal - your post tugged at my heart. Although I don't have IBS, I have similar symptoms from having part of my colon removed (cancer, 1999). You do not want to be at work feeling sick - I hear ya! I'm hoping to find that ideal part-time job in the next few months and I really hope to find an understanding boss. I know I'll miss work too but I won't expect to get paid. I just don't want a hard time if I'm sick. I fully intend on telling prospective bosses my situation so they're informed. :-) All I can do (except to win the lotto, that hasn't worked out yet!). LOL - have a daughter starting college in August.

I'm still trying to figure out what made me sick today...

I don't know if I ate something bad.. or if Wal Mart is just stressing me sick lol..

The truth is.. Even when I'm not at work.. I always wonder what's going on over at the job or how everybody's doing lol.. Sounds silly but it's true..

I'm even willing to say that even though I "leave" Wal Mart at 5 each day.. I take it with me.. I mention Wal Mart in my nightly prayers and blessings too lol..

Forgive me if I sound nuts

Ugh...... I never want to think of Sears when I have a day off. Just thinking about going back makes me sick. But, hey, I need the money. Hopefully, I will find something else soon.....

I don't understand you sometimes. Why do you post this stuff here? Do we really need to know your everyday work and life obstacles? Dude you really need to get a grip. JMHO. However, do not take offense to what I just said, it was only a curiosity that keep striking me everyday..

John I hope u get the position you want. Im sure you are a hard, dependable worker. Best thing to do when u are sick is get in bed and rest let your body fight whatever bug is making you ill. Good luck!

LOL.. I do not write things about this every day lol.. But I'm glad some of you like to hear what's going on..

I'll know by tomorrow if I will get the position.. The only things I'm worried about is.. the interviewer {1 of the stores' co managers} kept telling me.. "If ya don't get this.. keep applying when an opening comes up".. He told me that about 4 times lol..

But he also did say.. he'd try to speak with the store manager to hire more buggy pushers.. So I don't know if that's a sign he's gonna give me the job lol..

Anyway.. enough of that.. I feel 100 times better than yesterday.. I will pray throughout the day and 1st thing tomorrow to see if that'll help me be picked for the position lol..

That's weird John, because Tuesday I got sick at work and got sent home. I felt like I'd been poisoned and had an excruciating headache. What a fun way to spend my 2 year Anniversery  I had to lay with my head on an icepack. George and I had to cancel our dinner plans. Stayed home yesterday too. Still feel crappy today but not as bad as yesterday.

Hope you're feeling better sweetie. :)
