This may be a strange question, Are there any doctors or nurses on the forum??? Last May my wife fell and broke her kneecap. Everyonce in awhile when the weather changes it will ache. My mother says she may have arthritis in it. Could that be it? My wife is only 32 years old? Just needed an opinion.

yep

Hi Bud,

Yep. You can get arthritis at any age, especially at an injury site. No unusual at all. The same thing happens to surgical sites when the weather turns bad. Aspin works pretty good if your wife can handle it without stomach upset.

As a person who suffers with barometric pressure knees, lol, I have arthritis-I hurt my knees in 1979 and I can always tell when the weather changes

Could be rheumatoid arthritis which has little to do with age, like Windsong says. It's the body's immune attacking the joints, causing them to become inflammed, which in turn causes the aches.

My hubby has severe arthritis in his hands after working on cars since he was 13. He had to switch from working on cars to driving trucks because of it... and he's only 31. It is possible to have arthritis when you are younger.

I KNOW when its going to rain. I fractured my left foot and damaged the tendons in the right achilles. A change in temperature in the winter will also affect joints.

Yes, arthritis is likely at some point, but it is probably a little soon for that. Not because of her age, but because it hasn't been that long since the fracture. I also fractured a kneecap ( following ACL surgery) and I definitely sense weather changes in my knee now. My knee still has pins and wires in it, but I don't know if that has any effect on the weather sensitivity or not. I believe it is the fracture itself that is sensitive, because I can also feel it in my tibia which I cracked when I tore the ACL. I also have some (mild) arthritis in my right hand and that does not bother me with the weather changes.

I don't have a weather knee, but I sure have a weather butt! Had a bone graft taken out of my pelvis for a disc fusion 10 years ago and boy does that thing get to aching with pressure changes. When Dave notices me gimping around the house he knows we've got rain on the way.

As we age we feel once again the injuries of long ago. BUD I do think your wife has osteoarthritis. Most of us will get it to some degree as we age. Injuries to the joints tend to cause it to develop as well. Hope she gets better.
