No I wasn't fired or disciplined lol
The day began great.. I was happy because it was Friday.. well around 8:30 it went south..
Wal Mart has a new program for employees that aren't seen as much {Cart Pushers, unloaders, claims, stockers in the back.. whatever} called "Employee of the Quarter".. where they get recognized by that stores management and their district.
Well I am a little ticked off.. 1 of my fellow cart pushers got it.. Why am I ticked off..? Because HE WORKS NOWHERE NEAR AS HARD AS I DO.. I think I also know why he may have got it.. He is currently dating my boss's daughter and I think she may have had some swing in the vote..
I didn't approach this matter with my boss. But I was aggravated all day.. A lot of people told me "You'll probably get it next quarter".. but I'm still agitated..
That stuck with me all day lol..
The other thing that has me wondering.. I hate to bring up the dreaded T word.. but I must for at least a second.. I wasn't an "eyewitness".. but I actually heard 1 of my fellow associates ask her.. "You know John, right.." and she actually almost started crying.. {doesn't know what to think of that..} and then her reply was.. "I don't really know what I did wrong".. So I don't know.. Should I re-open the communication lines.. Or should I keep being quiet.. I say hello to her and that's it.. I'm kinda happy having it that way.. because even though I'm only bruised and not scarred by her.. I at least still have the feeling that I did a good thing by calling off our lunch last week..
Ok enough of the T word.. {jumps off my soapbox feeling like the employee who always gets brushed over}
In 1 bright note.. actually 2.. 1 of the managers actually told me today.. "Everybody has to get a chance.. But if you could get the employee of the month, every month.. you would hands down"
The 2nd bright note is this.. We had a horrendous thunderstorm come through about 1:30. A huge gust of wind came and threw me and the store manager both back about 5 ft. lol Apparently the manager wanted to try to keep everyone inside and out of the storm.. {it was a dangerous 1 with things flyin everywhere}.. so he attempted to pry our double doors shut lol.. and they blew open and threw him and I both back about 5 ft.. I just told him "Welcome to summer in Florida" {he used to be in Cali}
Day to forget at work! :(

If such little things aggravate you at work, wait until something big comes along-you've got about 40-50 years to go in the workforce so you had better get used to all sorts of crap or you will never make it out of the workforce alive.
Two Summer's ago they had to evacuate our Wal-mart when a wall of water ran through during a major boomer.

Aren't Cart Pushers somewhat visible to customers? But aside from that, you'll get recognition soon!!

I would let that run its course. It is interesting that the "girl" got emotional when your name was mentioned, however.

I know recognition can be a big thing to some, but you have to let other have an opportunity. Continue working hard, and it will payoff!! Having a manager (esepcially), co-worker, or if you really want to get goose bumps, a customer mentioning that you are a hard worker equals recoqnition, imo.
