I guess we wait till then. I am always very suspiscious in cases like this, but that is my nature. I do hope they are announcing she got cold feet and ran and that all is well now.

She's alive and well in Albuquerque NM; the FBI has her, and has taken her to a hospital for a check-up.

She stated that she escaped from a Hispanic man and a Caucasian woman who kidnapped her during her jogging run, and cut her hair; details are sketchy, but the first thing she did when she got away was to call her family, then her fiancee. She didn't know where she was.

Her family and fiancee are flying to NM to take her home later on this morning. :larrow:

SHE WASN'T ABDUCTED!!! :grr:

She apparently left on her own taking a bus first to Las Vegas then to Albuquerque. She made up the whole abduction story.

A lot of news organization websites, especially early in the morning will just put a wire copy from AP or Reuters. They do it a lot with international stories.

I'm glad she was found safe. But couldn't she simply have told at least one person, "I need some time...I'll call or come back when I can. Don't ask me any questions" and then she could have left for a while. That way, they would have known that she left on her own (although I'm sure they would have still worried about her safety throughout her "retreat").

Calling 911 probably wasn't as big of a problem (since she was "missing" and her whereabouts were unknown to authorities for a long time) although it certainly wasn't an emergency when she called. But did she have to lie and say anything about a kidnapping or a perpetrator?

It's Audrey Seiler all over again.

I'm glad she's alive. I'm glad she wasn't abducted and raped. Or worse.

But I wish she had told the truth!

We seem to have a serious epidemic in this country with telling the ~simple truth~.

Scott Peterson could have told Laci he no longer wanted to be married. He could have also explained he wasn't so sure about being a parent. Laci would have had her heart broken but her family (wonderful as they are) would have surrounded her and the baby to come. Right this minue she'd be alive. And Connor.

Mark Hacking could have told his wife Lori the whole truth, from beginning to end. She would have been shocked, might have left him, who knows, but the truth would have been out. And he could finally look himself in the mirror again. And Lori would be alive. Along with her baby (wasn't she pregnant also?).

And now this girl - she could have simply sat her family and fiance down. Explaining how overwhelmed she was. Asking for some time to herself to decide if she still wanted the wedding and/or marriage. Maybe all she needed to do was elope. Who knows. Planning a wedding can be so difficult - I should know! I planned my second one, in 2.5 months and my mother called me multiple times a day. Once 8 times. She about drove me nuts. Somehow I hung in there and got her off the phone fast each time.

Why can't parents at the end of their rope just ask for help? Instead of harming their children or worse, murdering them in a fit of despair/rage/confusion, whatever they feel. I've been tested as a parent, but never to that point. We all need cool down periods - counting to ten, walking away from a heated argument.

Why can't people just stand up for what's right and tell the truth? I don't know what the answer is, but maybe we need to get back to decent morals in this country. When kids are young.

Well, I'm done. This latest story has prompted me to ask these very questions this morning. I am glad she's alive.

Well said... I'm glad she's alive, but this story is just disturbing. They are going to let her off too. Get this... the police are putting 5-year-olds in handcuffs but will let a grown woman who lies to the police AND causes police resources as well as hundreds of volunteers to hunt for her for 4 days when all of those people could have been doing other things that were more life-threatening to someone.

Also... this may prompt more women in similar situations to run off, if they know they can avoid arrest... what a waste.

Good Morning Eric. 8-)

Got woke up at 7:30am by a squall line of thunderstorms. It's still raining here now. Ugh... these type of days make you want to go back to sleep(it took me forever to get back to sleep when I laid down at 4:15).

I have no sympathy for this woman. She ran away from her fiancee and her family and she lied to everyone including the police. She should be jailed for this.If a man did this, he would be.If I was the jilted fiancee, I'd run as fast and as far away from Ms.Wilbanks as I could.

Yes, it's a real pity it all had to come to this.

P.S., well said Mary!
