What's funny is that in one scene, he had walked away from the radar showing a thunderstorm and the storm's path with times for when each town would likely be hit. I saw "finger" and said to myself, "Finger? There's a place called 'Finger?'" Then he walked back on camera and said virtually the same thing.
He's too wild for news or weather. I'd switch stations if I were watching.

When I lived in se NY state...we had a station out of Seacaucus, NJ...along with Manhattan stations...anyway Channel 9 in Seacaucus had a weatherman who is a livewire similar to Mark Mathis named Lloyd Lindsay Young who would actually in a near yell pitch say things for ie., etc., like "HELLOOOOO MANHATTAN!!" and when hitting his clicker to bring a map or radar "SCIENCE!!"
What was even eerie was I remember seeing him on TV doing the weather out of Evansville, IN years earlier when I would visit my maternal grandmother at her home there in sw IN!

There were some funny bits I will admit, but if there is a huge storm like the one on that radar coming for your hometown and all the weatherman could do was comment on the name of a town called Finger... I would be upset!
(Personally... I would have called him on his cell and said "You're fired fool!")

He uses cucumbers in his weathercast. Oh my! Please... why would someone hire these people? And I thought some of our local weathercasters were bad.

When I was growing up we had met...yes a REAL met..here names Joe Foulkes. He was a Naval Reserve officer, a bit conservative in his style. He was famous for his grease pencil that he used while showing the track of any weather system he was discussing. He was my favorite out of all the TV mets in the area. When he passed away in 1995 even rival stations paid tribute to him. The best TV met in my area now is Jeff Lawson..a REAL met as well. During Isabel he kept his listeners well informed as to where the worst of the weather was.
