My son scratched his eye and messed it all up, so we took him to the Doctors today and the doctor gave us a script for eye drops for him cause she was worried about infection.. We drop the script up at walmart, and my Jen just recently went and picked it up... We take it out of the box and start to read the instructions , says to drop in eye, yada yada yada, then jen takes the bottle out of the box to give him the eye drop and on the bottle she notices a real big warning on the bottle that says USE IN EARS ONLY... Written real big in like 3 different locations.... Just got off the phone with Walmart and all they could say was.... "oooops.. dont give that to him, you will have to come back here and get the right stuff, someone must of put it in the wrong box" Maybe i am being a lil anal, but hey this is my first lil baby, and i dont like mistakes with my lil man... I have no clue what this could of done to his eyes, but they are sure dam lucky nothing happend

Good thing you and Jen read the box first. 20/20 did a report awhile back about pharmacists filling the wrong RX's. Glad you caught it in time and Dustin is safe and sound.

Thank God she saw that warning. There are too many meds out there that could hurt your little guy.
Give the little feller a hug.

Imagine if the print wasn't as big as it was or wasn't on the bottle in three places. Dustin is a wonderful baby! :D

I am very glad Jen is observent Chad. So many children and adults have been hurt or made sick by putting the wrong RX into the correct container or visa versa. The same goes for liquid antibiotics. I always check online to see if I can get a visual of the liquid and check ALL the lables. Thank goodness Dustin was not hurt.

I always check my grandmothers prescriptions (and my own) before leaving the pharmacy...

One time at Revco/CVS they gave her the wrong thing, and another time (at Wal-Mart) she paid for 100 diabetes pills and there were only 22 in the bottle....so you definitely have to be alert.

I'm just thankful you'll caught it in time Chad.

Eeew - more nightmarish med errors! There are NO eardrops with
the same name as eyedrops - not unless it's brand new and I
haven't heard of it, yet! I'm so glad Jen caught that - some older
people with poor vision might not have!

Those mistakes happen more often than people think. Always check the meds (bottle) before dispensing. Good catch by Mom. Was this pharmacist a former 7-eleven employee :o

Wow Chad that was too close. Good thing your wife did check. My family has lots of prescriptions going (allergy, asthma, high blood pressure meds) and you've just reminded me to check next time I refill something. We did catch a mistake on my husband's Zocor Rx a year ago. Doc started him out at 40 mg and 6 months later his blood test came back almost within normal limits. Then he lowered it to 20 mg. Doc said he didn't need such a strong strength since we watch what he eats too. Last Rx was lowered to 10 mg! Since there are side effects with Zocor it did ease our minds it was now a very low dose. But next refill, Pharmacy went back to the original 40 mg dose, just like that! If Jim hadn't been reading the bottle closely he never would have picked up on that. Thanks for the reminder, indirectly though, to always check these things out.

Important thing is Chad your sweet baby is just fine. Whew, that was a scare!

I'm glad this has a happy ending, Chad. There's a shortage of pharmacists and "pharmacist technicians" are doing a lot of the work. They are supposed to be under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, and I believe that the pharmacist is supposed to check them. In the real world, the pharmacist is probably doing something else, or on the phone answering a question. Also, at our Rite-Aid, there's a different pharmacist there every week! I predict that problems are going to become more prevalant. Everybody check your meds!

I have to take 7 different pills twice a day (6 or 7 depending on the time of day) and it is a pain in the butt. I've caught two errors so far this month and made a couple of my own  :o . Luckily I'm fine so far. My meds come in bubble packs, so that makes it easier to check them for bloopers. On one day, they forgot to put my pill in; and on another day; they left 1 out of the 4 out. :o

Chad.....I think the pharmacy should have said something besides "oops".

Unfortunately, in such a specialized industry such as this.......where the very health of an individual is at stake.......there is NO room for mistakes!! If the counter person or pharmacist pooh-poohs the severity of a situation like this.......he should be replaced.

I found out many years ago when relying on the proffessionalism of this industry that mistakes can happen. This certainly does not make it excusable or easily brushed under the carpet! I would hope that the person you discussed this with fell over backwards trying to understand your complaint and perhaps even offered to have the CORRECT medicine delivered right to your doorstep!

I always figure that if a company is not made aware of problems.......the problems will continue. Honest mistakes do happen.....but careless ones should not. So glad your wife noticed before giving to that precious little bundle that cannot be replaced............p

Thank GOD that Jen caught the mistake before she used those drops. I think the pharmacy and or pharmacist need to be a TAD!!!! more careful!!!      Anybody else makes a mistake at their job and it's not so bad..but with Medicine..it could be fatal..GOD was watching your back BUD!!
