Thoughts regarding Natalie Maines and the "Dixie"

Natalie said she was ashamed that President Bush was from her home state of Texas. Well, Natalie and the other members of the "Dixie" Chicks have freedom of speech to express their opinion---well, so do I..

I am extremely ashamed that Natalie and the other members of the Dixie Chicks are from the south; the same proud area of America where I was born, grew up, and live today.

I'm just as outraged they have the nerve to use the word "Dixie" in their name. Number one, I don't consider the Lone Star state as part of Dixie to begin with. Dixie means Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina....not Texas. No offense to the proud citizens of Dallas-Forth Worth, Houston, Austin, and El Paso. The vast majority of Texans are patriotic and friendly; they include good friends of mine such as David (vbhoutex) and Patricia (ticka1). I'm ashamed the Chicks are from Texas...they bring reproach on my friends living there.

The portion of America known as "Dixie" is among the most honorable and patriotic area of the country. Most of us here in Dixie respect God, family, and country....we support our president and the brave heroes that serve our country proudly. The Dixie Chicks most definitely do not represent the proud citizens of my area.

Charlie Daniels, Alan Jackson, and Randy Owens (Alabama) are typical country superstars from Dixie...they are proud of their country and the principles it stands for.

I make a request..no, I demand that Natalie and her two other Chicks remove the word Dixie from their groups name ASAP--they are offending me and my proud neighbors in Georgia. Heck, I'm a good guy....I'll even give them a couple of more appropriate substitutes..

How does the name "Ditzy" Chicks grab you? I also think "Euro" Chicks is a possibility; as well as "Bogus" Chicks -- bogus because they sure as heck don't sound like folks from either Dixie or Texas

Never did like the Dixie Chicks and really don't like them now.
Natalie has a "big" mouth!!!
This isn't the first time she put her foot in her mouth. She had a run in w/Toby Keith last year over a comment she made over his song, Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. He set her straight real quick.

Sorry Marshall...I meant no harm, only to inject a little humor.
If it's not appropriate, please feel free to delete it (I tried but was unable).

Thanks,
Perry

WHOOO Skynard Rocks. As for the "Dixie chicks" They should stick to singing and leave the polotics alone! I think they made a mess of landslide, and should have left it to Fleetwood Mac!

I agree Amanzi about them making a mess of Landslide and noone can sing it better than Stevie Nicks. What I have never understood is how they won a grammy for a song they did not even write.

I agree Lindaloo. I LOVE stevie and Fleetwood Mac and I do not like the way they covered it. Same goes for Jewel who covered sweet home alabama.

I dont think it should be alowed, winning a grammy for a song you did not write!

JetMaxx, a little history for you...

"Dixie" was the unofficial anthem of the Confederate States, which included Virginia, North and South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas and Missouri...thirteen in all. And, Texas contributed more soldiers to the "cause" than any other state except Virginia.

the furthest west battle fought between regular troops of the Union and Confederate Armies took place 40 miles west of Tucson and yes, the Confederate Flag DID fly over Tucson (as well as New Mexico).

Ok correct me if I am wrong..Wasn't it only one of the dixie chicks that made that comment ?????? If so why do you associate her comment with the whole band??? That doesn't make sense to me at all.. Don't get me wrong I think she was totally wrong for saying what she said but she is an individual and her band members shouldn't suffer for her ignorance

Guys, I'm very sorry....I meant no harm.

The entire post was meant in humor...not to be taken seriously. I realize Texas is a part of Dixie, as is Louisiana and Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Marshall was right....it's been beaten to death. I shouldn't have posted it. I'm human...I make mistakes. I never meant to offend anyone.

You are all my friends. I appreciate you; and would never post anything intentionally to hurt you.

Take care,
Perry
