All In the Family
Between learning to cook and working on a greatest-hits CD, Britney Spears eases into her role as future stepmom to fiancé Kevin Federline's kids
Thursday Aug 12, 2004 12:00pm EST
Spears was excited to spend time with Federline's daughter Kori on Aug. 5. "She was spirited and really happy," says director Dave Meyers. Her connection to Kori's dad, he says, is "very sweet."
Since her engagement in June to dancer Kevin Federline, Britney Spears seems to have settled into a looooong, low-key premarital honeymoon. Shopping. A trip to Hawaii. Pool time. And, for a remarkably long stretch, no headlines. What's up? As she told PEOPLE last month: "I kissed a bunch of frogs and finally found my prince." Of course, this Prince Charming doesn't come with a white stallion – he comes with two kids: daughter Kori, 2, and 5-week old Kaleb (both by his ex-girlfriend, actress Shar Jackson). So on Aug. 5, Spears took time to try out her pending role of stepmom. After missing Kori's second birthday in July, Federline, 26, brought his daughter to an L.A. set where Spears was shooting a commercial for her new Elizabeth Arden perfume, Curious (in stores next month).

In what a source says was their second get-together – their first was just before Kaleb was born – Spears, 22, made it up to Kori. "She wanted to go to the trailer to see her whenever she could," says the commercial's director, Dave Meyers. Adds another source: "They were very playful. They had fun. They posed for pictures. You can call it a family portrait."

I just don't know what to think of THIS thread. For one thing, I can barely tear myself away from the Tropics Forum and wandered over here to see what's up. Then I see a Britney topic. I'm sorry, but discussing Britney Spears right now when Florida is under the gun, just doesn't seem that interesting to me!
And a stepmom to boot? And one's a 5 week old? Wow, I hope that kid has colic or something....sorry, this topic just bugged me for some reason!

Helen - I've got to hand it to you. You could be real nasty to us non-Britney fans, but you just keep zinging those rose colored glasses type posts right back at us. Are you president of her fan club or something? Wait, don't answer....LOL

Haha, now ain't that the truth.

Ok, I'm being a little harsh, she can be a good singer when she actually does sing and isn't doing her world famous lip syncing(spelling) . But you know that every women has the stuff to be a great mother, it's just a matter of wether or not she uses it. Personally the way she has been acting, I think that she might actually be using it!!

What kind of roll model will Britney be????? As the mother of a 10yr old girl, that gives me chills. She will be having that 5yr old girl is skintight slinky outfits parading around in no time. Just what we need- more pre-pubescent little girls that dress like whores.
I'm not sorry to say, I did NOT let my daughter go to the Britney Spears concert.

Thankfully my girls saw thru Britney Spears, early on. They're 14 and 17 now so I never had to say - you can't buy her CD's, go to her concerts, etc. Somewhere along the line they both declared - Britney's trashy mom! Now how could I not agree when my children are stating the obvious? Grimmy, you go girl. Keep saying no. I also never had to enforce no tight skimpy tops in this house, my girls just decided it looked "gross" to see girls stomaches hanging out of their jeans, so I got lucky there again. Don't ask me how this all happened b/c I have tried to keep my disgust of current clothing trends to myself. I try not to judge kids that into the goth look, have piercings or tatoo's. My girls are not allowed to have piercings or tatoo's though, until they're 18. Goth I could handle, but they're not into that. The majority of teen girls are not a size 4, like Britney. They can't pull off this bare the stomach look, very well. The most disgusting thing I saw once was a teen girl, size 12, stuffed into size 8 jeans, stomach hanging out but more importantly, an inch or so of fat hanging over her jeans. Her boyfriend was all over her and had both his hands on her 'love handles', for lack of a better description. This girl seemed so proud to bare her midriff like this and then to have this boy hanging all over her. We were waiting in line behind them for a roller coaster ride. And we were almost so disgusted, that we were thinking about skipping that ride. Later my daughters said they'd never dress this way.
Just an off-beat way of saying this is the look that Britney Spears encourages!

Get over it, the girl looks and acts like a slut, has NO business being a mother...and thinks it's cool to kiss and swap spit with another woman on national tv!!! And that's a role model???

HD - thank for your reply. I was trying to come up with a younger celeb (singer/entertainer/actress) to illustrate what we're trying to say here to Helen. You said it perfectly.
I can think of many older celebs but younger ones do stump me. But I'll try.....I find Kate Hudson so charming, she reminds me so much of her mother at her age. Another would be Drew Barrymore. Take away her marriages and dabble with drugs at a very young age, and Drew always seems to land on her feet. Such a cute girl!
