I was sitting here this morning watching MSNBC, they were showing the humanitarian relief efforts, I couldn't believe my eyes, those POOR people fighting for food and water We Americans, myself included, take SO much for granted, we need a loaf of bread, we run to the nearest grocery store, we need a drink of water, we go the sink, turn on facuet, there it is. We have NO idea how GOOD we have it, even those who are below the national poverty level live like KINGS and QUEENS compared to those poor ppl. I was watching a clip last night of women scooping water out a mud puddles, don't know if it was for drinking water but even still, I can't imagine living in conditions like that.

As most of you know, I spent 6 months in the Mediterranean back in 1978, we pulled into Alexandria Egypt for 3 days, I was BLOWN away to see the living conditions, no sanitation what so ever, no garbage service, no running water in most places, no sewage systems. You saw little kids, 3-6 years old asking for food, cigarettes, money....the clothes on their backs, we wouldn't even use them for cleaning cloths.

Say a little prayer for those who are suffering so dearly and say a little prayer for our men and women who are over there witnessing this disaster of humanity and ask God to protect them.

You're absolutely right Dennis. Saddam Hussein lives in palaces covered in gold and marble, yet his people live in poverty. Nice huh?

I've heard it said over the past few days that even the homeless here in the States are in better shape than 90% of the Iraqi population. Here, the homeless have shelters provided by the cities, food kitchens for a hot meal once a day.

I'm not sadistic, but this is one time when I think the Iraqi civilians should be allowed to torture their evil dictator!!

I pray for the people less fortunate than myself.

Poverty is a horrible thing to see. It breaks my heart to see people fighting for the most basic things in life. You are right most of us take what we have for granted (I moan when my ISP gives me trouble, or when we loose power)

I used to work in a "shanty town" in Durban South Africa helping children to grow vegetable gardens. They have to walk miles to a filthy river to collect buckets of water and live in hovels made from card board. It is revolting to see the government people there riding around in there new BMW's and wasting R1000,000.00 on a celebration. When there own people have absolutely nothing.
