Prayers please?

Did a dumb thing again - I hope and pray I didn't break my nose. Please pray I didn't?!!! I seem to always be asking for my wx family to pray I didn't fracture something, huh? Ugh....

I decided to wash our mini-blinds the other day or attempt to. Then one window had light streaming thru but I couldn't close them properly by using the wand. I looked way up and the first 4 were all bent out of shape - like I am now. LOL So I begin trying to reach up, fix them, and my window treatment stapled to a 1 by 4 piece of wood fell smack on the bridge of my nose. I made my own treatments and lazy me, just puts them on top of the L brackets, we never open windows so they don't move around. Wish now I had secured them to the L brackets with screws. Dang!

Reason I'm so mad once again is I worked for ENT docs, 2 were plastic surgeons. We saw patients come in all the time with nasal fx's, swollen after surgery and then cry out in agony as the packing was removed. We all said no way we would elect to have that kind of surgery (same with face lifts).

Been icing it and I took Motrin. Don't know what else to do!!! I didn't bleed, so I'm hoping that's a very good sign! Can't see any swelling but it hurts. Really hurts. Only good thing is I can walk, unlike last time!!!! Karan, I could use a cup of tea.

Just wish I'd learn to avoid this stupid accidents!!!

Thanks all for the prayers.

What ARE we going to do with you? That's what you get for having a nice, relaxing vacation AND for cleaning!

I hope it's only a deep bruise.

I'm praying it's not broken, Mary! :)

As many times I've have been hit in the nose, amazingly it's never been broken. I've been hit busted in the nose by a baseball (more times than I can count), an oar, a Laser Tag gun, and my mom's fist (many more times than I can count). I think the nose can take more knocks than people realize. Or maybe I'm just hardnosed.

Oh Shawn - that makes me feel so much better, sorry for your past accidents but if you haven't broken it yet, maybe there's hope for me! All of my work memories are coming back - I spent 10 years at that ENT office. And we didn't see the patients when they looked great again or felt well, we saw them at their worst. Wonder if they even use packing after nasal fx surgeries....God, I hope not!!!! If so, I'll just ask for Versid....LOL Listen to me - I just have to keep saying, it's not broken.....

Steph - LOL at your response. Yes what the heck am I going to do with myself? I always tell my daughter Laura when she has a string of accidents (she's had 3 fx's so far), find a good book and comfy chair and SIT. I think I'll do that.

Thanks Linda, Matt, KC, Bonnie, Brian for the prayers.

Yup, I know it hurts like HECK! when a nose gets hit. I'm sure that's all it was though -- a nasty, rough ouch without permanent injury.

Ugh! I only saw a few of the nasal packed cases. ICK! I have this thing about stuff that comes out of noses (if you know what I mean). Only time I ever EVER threw up in all my years working in the hospital -- the grandmother just got finished putting on her 3-year-old grandson's coat, gloves, scarf, hat, boots, etc. when he exclaims, "Grandma! My nose!" ansd she says, "What wrong with your nose?" and he proceeds to slide off one glove, slip the scarf down off his face, and then...well, you know...with his finger. He had a nasty, gelatinous mound on his digit when he got it out.

I had to run to the restroom!! Ugh! Can't stand talking about it that much now.

Gimme blood, barf, brain, burns, #1, #2, broken bones, and spit to deal with (with gloves, of course). But keep that nose crud away from me!

Okay, Shawn you've managed to cheer me up not once now, but twice. Literally LOL at you gagging over a booger. Well, kids do seem to do that in situations they shouldn't - church, school, restaurants, etc.

I did laugh at your 'gelatinous' word choice too......can you think of why? LOL

Why'd I choose "gelatinous?" :)

Cuz it was a big, clotted beigy-yellow mass of booger, similar to a big, clotted reddish mass of blood on the floor after a trauma alert. Same consistency as J-E-L-L-O and I, for one, did not care to watch it jiggle and then hear my co-workers giggle after I fled the room. :) And remember, I didn't just gag. I lost it all!!! LOL!

Seriously though -- I'm guessing "gelatinous" was used somewhere, sometime on "Friends" and I'm not able to figure out where. :)

Yes, the one and only Chandler Bing muttered something about the gelatinous fun they're gonna have, after Rachel's first birthday on the show (the one where both separated parents show up, hence two parties needed). Remember Monica thought it would be nice to have Flan (sp?) instead of a traditional birthday cake. But all it did was shake around when they lit the candles. Yes, I watched a few too many Freinds' episodes in my time.

Mary, I think we'll just have to lock you in a "safe" room for a while. Now sit back, put you feet up, put your head back and relax. I'll brew you a nice pot of Earl Grey. ((Hugs)) my friend.

We're going to start calling you Mrs. Clean. What? Your mini blinds got dirty while you were on vacation??? Think SWIFFER!!!!! They're great.

Karan - my mini blinds are really grimey (is that a word?). So they needed to be scrubbed. Half way thru that job I just decided to replace them one by one, since they're only $13 each! Levelors at Lowe's. Anyways, they are old-old, probably 15 years now. Bent up, looking pretty sorry if you ask me. Like I am!!!! LOL

Thanks for the tea - I need the whole pot!!!

I'll swiffer new blinds once I start replacing them (I need 8 though, chaching!).

Thanks Jen, I think now it's not broken. No swelling yet but man does it hurt something awful.
