A woman was killed Monday night when she was hit by a car in Westwood, police said.

Around 5 p.m., police say 30-year-old Gloria Valles was in a crosswalk at Glenway and Midway, when a speeding car driven by 18-year-old Zachary Costas hit her. Authorities say two cars stopped briefly and then left the scene. Witnesses followed Costas and held him until police arrived.

Witnesses told Local 12 the drivers appeared to be street racing, but police say that was not the case.

Costas faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.(<---------Comment from Jeremy: This kinda story makes a person feel pretty good about surviving a similar experience, and the best part is he won't get away scot-free!)

That's terrible. I can't believe people could flee the scene.

Witnesses followed Costas and held him until police arrived.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Good for them. :)

Well, considering it was a poedestrian he hit, people can't do a lot of damage to car parts except for the hood where this pedestrian likely hit, I'm not surprised at all that he could drive away. However, I too am glad this guy is off the streets for a while!
