Semis crush pickup on I-45; 3 die

Three men died Friday when their pickup was crushed between two tractor-trailers in an Interstate 45 construction zone south of Corsicana.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said a fourth man – the driver of the tractor-trailer that rear-ended the pickup – was seriously injured in the accident, which backed up traffic for miles.
DPS spokeswoman Lisa Block said the accident occurred about 12:45 p.m. as southbound traffic slowed where the interstate narrows in the construction zone.
"The vehicles were headed into the one-lane construction area," Ms. Block said.
The men in the pickup were killed instantly. Their identities were not immediately released.
The injured tractor-trailer driver was airlifted to a Waco hospital, Ms. Block said.
