Need help with getting rid of adware/spyware

I downloaded the spybot "search and destroy" program from download.com a few days ago and my system's performance has been MUCH better, but it seems after I have used the "fix problems" button to remove the programs, there are still a few harmful files and programs leftover when I do the scan again.

In otherwords the program tells me the software has been removed, but SOME of it really has not been.

Any suggestions?

Hey Bud.. Are you familiar with "Safe Mode"?? Just reboot your computer and during boot up keep hitting the f8 key untill you are prompted and asked how to boot up.. Select "safe Mode" then once back in windows in safe mode, run the Spybot again.. That should fix you right up.. If you have anymore problems just contact me

Sometimes Windows may be using the file that you are tying to rid the spyware of and in those casses it will not remove them.. But in safe mode those files usually are not loaded so it will remove them

oh gosh...thanks chad. I have the same problem going on. I've got zonealarm, spybot, adaware, spyblaster and that DSO exploit STILL gets through! HUNDREDS of Explorer windows will open even though I changed my browesr to firefix/mozilla (which I like much better).

I will try the safe-mode. I was making plans to erase everything and reinstall.
Thanks again,
Denise
