JMO, but I really don't believe it will happen. Certainly hope I am right.

I do not believe it either. I just have a hard time believing they would announce when they would attack us.

Exactly, Linda
If and when we would be attacked I am sure they will want to catch us completely off guard just like 9-11.
And if the Nov elections are delayed these "idiots" will have succeeded in
"bullying" us.

They might try, but they won't succeed.

I fell that they will try, But that we will discover them before they have any chance and stop them.

IMHO, because of our complacency re: color-coded alerts, NO attacks carried out since 9-11, and Al Qaida's interest in doing here what was done in Spain to get a more "friendly" Government in place, they will TRY.
Remember, they have cells within the US; how many and how far-ranging, we have no idea, and they do not necessarily need Arabs to do the dirty work...also, much of what they'd attack is still unsecured.
They MAY be stopped; but, then, they may not.

Living next to the sieve laughingly called the Border where Homeland Security is a joke and with a recognized AQ hotbed in Tucson, I say yes there will be an attack.

Oh, yeah, I think there will definately be an attack before the end of the year. Cells are supposedly in place, there are suitcake nukes missing and unaccounted for, Los Alamos is missing very sensitive documents, and some of the other boards are reporting that it may be a matter of days, not months. Not only that, new warnings have gone up for the potential of Wall Street being a target and now the administration is talking about plans to delay the elections if necessary. Our military is scattered all over the globe, the fleets are way off shore.....If all those things aren't all big dots, I don't know what is.

No I definitely do not think there will be an attack.
Jan, our troops are fighting the war over there so it won't be fought here.

I'm pretty confident that there won't be a large scale attack. However, I do think that smaller scale, mall type suicide bombings...or tunnels like the one leading in and out of Logan can be hit and there is absolutley nothing anybody can do to stop that!
Me and my wife were stuck in the Ted Williams Tunnel last week and talked about how devastating a large car bomb would be in that tunnel. The tunnel in case you don't know connects the North End of Boston to Logan Airport and is under water.
I mean think about just how easy it would be to drive a U haul loaded with explosives (like Ok City) into the tunnel...stop halfway...and press the button. How about a coordinated attack, both tunnels..one in..one out.
Again..I ask myself why they haven't resorted to this lower level of terrorism yet?

I agree with this... it has always been my gut feeling that AQ will wait as long as they believe is humanly possible to strike again... possibly several years or more, if they think they will still be in a position to do so at that point. They would like nothing more than to watch the general American population gradually let terrorism slip onto the backburner of issues over the next several years, then strike with an attack whose shock value meets or exceeds 9/11. Certainly the shock value factor would be relatively mild with any attacks occurring during a time of media coverage and heightened security (such as now).
All that said, taking us by surprise is obviously not their only goal... disruption of the election process could easily be higher on their priority list for all we know. In the end, we will just have to sit back and see what unfolds while hoping for the best, as usual.

Well said dryline. I agree 100%.

I think there will be an attack and at the latest it will be on election day. Think about this-there are hundreds of COWARDS cells in place across the US per our own governments stats. The election polls -literally 10's of thousands of them will be unguarded. How hard will it be for a suicide bomber to walk in and detonate a bomb. Talk about DISRUPTING THE ELECTION PROCESS!!! There would be no way they could call it a valid election, no matter who won, if this scenario happens, especially in a number of places instead of just one or two.

Pburgh all of our carrier groups are out to sea right now. Like janswizard stated the is an abundance of chatter going on right now and none of it is good. We will have to take it one date at a time. Lets get through Wednesday first.

I think we will be able to get through the next day, BEER. I have full confidence in the governmental agencies to keep a handle on anything that appears to be getting together.
If I am wrong, then I have beech front property for sale at Cancun.

I believe they will try....the question is whether it will be a successful try.

They will attack again. Not sure whether it will be before election day, but they will strike someday someplace somehow.
It's hard for them to organize these days. Large scale events require lots of planning and communication. They have to use basic ways of doing that. Too many people in the process, and they get discovered. Too few and the results are less intense.
I credit this administration and each of you for making it harder and harder to carry out something on our soil that would be dramatic.
Still..it is a free country, and as such, they have plenty of opportunity to do some harm. And they will.
How much and when is the question.
