Hello all...I just want to update you guys on my POTENTIAL surgery on the ACM...

If it's gonna happen, it's going to be mid-August...:( Problem with that is, August 23rd is the first day of classes at NKU...and I'm gonna need at least 2 months to recover from any surgery...and may not even be "normal" for at least 6! So, I'm at a crossroads here...do I delay the surgery, and risk the symptoms getting worse in the meantime, OR do I have the surgery and take 6 months to a year off of school? Opinions welcomed but I do think it's more reasonable to just take the first semester off...

Jeremy, what does ACM stand for? Sorry if it seems I'm at a loss here.

To me...health issues would come first and academics later.

Reading Chip's story of his surgery and recovery is truly inspiring.

Prayers and thoughts are w/ you, Jeremy...we're here for you, Bro.

If the docs are certain about the surgery, then I think you ought to go for it and plan to take the semester off for recovery. No sense in waiting.

When it comes to health, I'm not a fan of anyone playing the "wait and see" game. I don't like knowing my friends are waiting (and stressing) and I don't like waiting (and stressing). Just had a good friend recently get checked out for something that could have been cancerous. It wasn't, thank God. But she didn't put it off, anticipating that it might go away or that it wouldn't worsen. She got it taken care of right away. :)

Don't wait. I know school is important also. But your health comes first, IMO. :)

If the docs say you need the surgery, then go ahead and do it now. don't delay it and get started in school and get all involved in it and then have to take an extended period off.

If you were already in school I would probably tell you to wait till you have 6 months to take off that wouldn't interrupt your schooling. Been my experience that when one is in school and takes time off, no matter what the reason, unless it is a school related work program, it is very difficult to get started back.

I say do it now and have a fresh healthier start of school when you are all healed.

Already praying for ya bud, whatever you decide.

Thanks Eric, David and Shawn...that's my reasoning too...I don't want to wait but I'm gonna make sure to tie up my loose ends BEFORE I do this...

OK...got a bit of good news...apparently my doctor didn't see anything unusual on the MRI...however there's still one question left unanswered...what is causing me these problems? I do still plan on going to see the doc next week to find out the next step...

Looks like none of it's an absolute done deal...indeed it's not even close...right now it looks ok but the doc has not come back to town yet...I'm gonna take these suggestions if I do go...

UPDATE

I just received an e-mail from my neurologist over at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati...he agreed with the first doctor, and says while it isn't the chiari that is responsible for my recent problems, it is something at the rear of the brain...will go see him next week and will go on some new meds within a couple weeks...your thoughts and prayers have been MUCH appreciated over these last two weeks...and are still needed as I begin a new period in my life...
