I am currently at work, just 7 blocks from the beginning of the caisson processional. May roll down there later....not sure yet.

Many people are vacating the city at 2 or 3 this afternoon and some offices are closing early.

They've upped the number expected to pay their respects, now saying 150,000 to maybe 200,000. Just incredible. The number at the Reagan library exceeded expectations too.

Tonight all of the stations are going to be airing recaps of the procession and ceremonies.

Yup, I watched as the hearse pulled up to the airstrip, as the casket was transported to the plane, and as Nancy walked up the steps to the door of the plan, turned, and lovingly waved goodbye to the Californians and military personnel who had turned out to bid farewell to Ronnie.

The waterworks came on at that moment.

I think that's when I cry the most...for Nancy, when I see her without him. :(

I agree, Shawn...the same for me. :( It still seems surreal that Ron has passed away...even though his family and the rest of the country knew it was inevitable with the Alzheimer's battle.

Well, I didn't follow the news when Nixon died and wasn't alive for anyone else, but I didn't expect to take it this hard either. I knew it was going to happen, but it hit like a ton of bricks. I was crying all day Saturday once I heard the news his condition was worsening.

I'm deeply saddened, but I couldn't help but think, after hearing it mentioned so much on the news, about how horriby tragic it must have been in the 60's when Kennedy was killed. I just can't begin to imagine what it must be like to experience a current President's death.

even 150000 to 200000 could be underestimating. A quarter of a million people wouldn't surprise me at all. He will be missed by many. I wish I was there also. The only way I would have shown up is if I took off work tonight and took marc transit from Baltimore to Union Station in Washington.

I bet on 250,000 people walking through the Rotunda tonight through Friday morning at 7 am.

Is anyone watching the ceremonies in the Capital Rotunda now? Nancy Reagan went up to his casket with the assistance of VP Cheney and stood their for a minute patting and rubbing the flag draped casket. :(

Seeing Reagan's boots aside that horse sent a chill through me. :(
