Just heard on my local news channel WRAL-TV5...that Jessica McClure who was rescued from a well in 1987...graduated this past weekend!!

Eric - I'm glad someone posted this story. Congrats Jessica!!! I remember when the story broke. It was so tragic - 58 hours trapped in a well? And she was only what, 18 months old? Each day I'd check the news, hoping they rescued her. I remember when I heard the wonderful news that they did - I was grocery shopping and word spread thru out the store. Complete strangers began talking and smiling as they walked up and down the aisle. You felt compelled to say to everyone - did you hear, they got Baby Jessica out of the well? It was just a wonderful day.

After your post John, I tried searching for a current article about her graduation but found other links too. I guess I forgot there was a movie made about her story. And one site I went to said she's had 15 surgeries since the accident. I never knew that - poor girl. Here are a few to read, if you're interested:

Yup, I remember the movie well. Patty Duke played the social worker!

My daughter was born in 1987. I think the McClure saga is one of the top 5 most intensely followed human interest stories that I can ever recall.

I can't believe it's been that long ago!
