Do you own a DVD or a VCR? Michelles sister just sent her a DVD player for her birthday, I SWORE that I would never own one, I refused to join the modern world (I fought buying a CD player, a digital camera....I've got both now!).......I must admit, they are GREAT PLUS...the fact that it appears the VCR is heading down the same road of the 8 track tapes "LOL!"

Other than having to wipe the DVDs we get from the rental place (they ALWAYS "skip" due to poor handling), DVDs for US!

DVD player here.. We have a VCR for dustins cartoons and such, but DVD player is definatly the way to go.. And they are dern cheap now as well

We have a DVD and a DVR. We may not be on fire patrol, but we are on call at work all the time. The Digital Video Recorder from Cox lets us record two shows at the same time, watch a live show and stop it for breaks, and otherwise helps us keep track of the few things we want to watch at our convenience. Same thing as TIVO only this is COX's version.

LP Turntable, Cassette player, VCR, DVD player (xbox), about 3 cd players including computers. I heard that DVD's may be on the way out too because of concens over durability. The thing that amazes me is that music cassettes are still hanging in there.

I bought a VCR/DVD combo in February after my VCR died. I still use the VCR more, because I record a lot of stuff off the TV, but slowly DVD's are taking over. I've got about 5 or 6 now that are mine and when I go to the movie rental store I try to get DVD's when possible. I like them because you don't have to rewind them.

We own a combo but I don't think that the DVD is a recorder.

The good news is that DVD's also take up alot less space than a VHS tape - kind of like the old 8 tracks!

My stereo system, a Sony, I've had since the late 80's and it did come with a CD player. It still works fine except that the radio doesn't display the stations #'s anymore, so we rely on what's programed to get the stations we want. Anyway, it does have a turntable for all of my LP's that I still have.

We have three DVD players, One in the living room, One in my room, and one in my sister's room ( She just graduated so she will be leaving shortly!! yay! ) anyways...and in all three of those rooms we have VCR's as well and one Nintendo Gamecube with about 8 games with it

Mine's not. They do have them, but they are still more expensive than a general DVD player or VCR.

You can get a VCR now for less than 50 bucks, LOL

Both of my kids have a DVD and a VCR. I have neither. I ask myself all the time "How did that happen?"

My family has a DVD/VCR Combo player.

Just a VCR here...sister and brother-in-law have a DVD, though.

and plan to get a VCR/DVD recorder this Christmas so that I can put my annual weather highlights that I send out on DVD next January. I have two VCRs for using in editting my storm video plus a I have a large collection of movies on VHS though I also have a collection of DVDs building as well. CD player (and cassete) as well and althougb I have radio I don't use it since the local radio station stinks and the TUS stations can't be received here without an external lightning rod-er antenna.

I still have my VCR player, and, when it finally
"kicks out", I'll purchase the DVD player!

Have both and as well a surround sound stereo system with 5 disc cd changer, dual cassette, turn table, 700watts of power to it. Payed a pretty penny for it but well worth it imo.

BTW the reason cassetts are still around believe it or not is because of the problems that they have discovered CDs/DVDs have. And believe it or not you still get the best sound quality off of a LP (Can get it off of a cassette as well but you have to know how to fiddle with them (internally)to acheive that and have a good one at that) which is why they are both still around (Have to order LPs nowadays though) Ofcourse to get that sound quality you need to take very good care of them and have a good turntable like a bangen olsen<-----(unsure of spelling). They run about 500+ bucks btw. But well worth it.

YUP.......I still have a Pioneer Turntable too! Had to buy a new stylus, talk about HARD to FIND! AND....believe it or NOT, I've still got an OLD "8 track" player in my work shop "LOL!" Cracks me up to hear it change tracks "CA CHUNK!"

We prefer DVD's now. We like the extra features movies offer - deleted scenes, commentaries, etc. When we buy an old movie on DVD and extra scenes weren't available when it first went to VHS tape, my kids are really bummed. They are so disappointed. I think this generation is very spoiled - I like to share with them that I didn't get to see movies the way they do - over and over again. My husband is so annoyed when they pop in another Friends episode. Of course that's one of my favorite shows, so if I'm not too busy I get into it. Jim wants to head for the nearest bar. I try to explain that to this generation, they just want to see shows/movies on their schedule. LOL My kids will watch just certain parts, songs, etc. One movie that ran here for months was Dazed and Confused. If you're a fan of That 70s Show and are older than say 30-35, then I predict you will like this movie. It's set in 1976 and takes place in just one day. It's my husband and my heyday, so the kids get annoyed when we sit in with them. LOL But again, it's one of those movies that if they have just 20 minutes, it's so easy to pop in that DVD and watch one or two scenes. Not so easy with a VHS tape.

I have a DVD player and VCR. Sometimes all they have are VHS's at the rental store so that is what i get. Also its fun to record off the television if i am not able to watch a show when it regularly airs.

at my moms, we have 1 VCR and 2 DVD players (VCR/DVD player downstairs... seperate machines) and then a DVD player upstairs... I would rather use DVDs... much better picture/sound quality. I also have a DVD player on my laptop..... definitely a way to go if you need a study break!
