well I am much more interested in Biden on MSNBC after the speech. I wanted him to run for President, He claimed he was too old. Oh well, in that case he is probably too old for vice president, but it would be nice if he could be Kerry's ticket.

So what did you think of the speech CaluWxBill???

Made me proud to be an American. So appropriate that they played "Star and Stripes Forever" following the speech.

Not real sure, I am glad he atleast had the hint of a plan. but, overall I was dissapointed, because he seems to sure of the June 30 deadline and it seems there is still too much chaos to allow this. All I can say, is I hope it works out, and wish him the best of luck.

Good speech. Determined as always. I especially appreciated his comment that his goal was not to make the Iraqi people Americans.

I'm not sure this will bring a groundswell of public support for the war to continue as needed over the time it may take.

The President is committed. But the ugliness of this war will continue to chip away at the resolve of our nation. Each body bag and each new atrocity...on our side or theirs, will tug at our ability to keep committed.

President Bush did a more than commendable job of stirring our support, but news coming out of the streets of Iraq in the days ahead will have more impact than the patriotism he tried to inspire tonight.

I was very please with the presidents speach. He came with a more subduded attitutde to honor those who had died in iraq according to critics. He laid down in great definition the 5 steps needed for the iraqi liberation. Showing a plan, unlike liberals thought, who said he did not have a plan. He talked about with firmness and consideration on the June 30 deadline. He talked about how there would be even more attacks increasing in severity. But that we are orgainizing to help Iraq have a free election by no later than January of next year. He also said that he was going to with the permission of Iraqi citizans tear down the old prision in Iraq and build a new one. He plans to add more coliation members and to get a new resolution to the UN (There liberals you happy. Were involving yalls beloved UN). All in all a great speach to prove his point with authority. Go President Bush!!!

I will be only mildly pleased if it ends up like Afghanistan. I am pleased that he did show atleast a plan. and true, I didn't give him any credit for having a plan. So I am more pleased, I just hope that we can see his plan through.

And some people want us out of their now. It would be back to Saddams land in no time. We would have done the same thing Bush I did to the Iraqi people. Except without Saddam. But another one just as bad would emerge to take his place

No if we left it would be much worse than Saddams land. It would be Osama bin Laden's land. and, that is why, even though I have been thoroughly dissapointed with the President, I think he must continue with this war and Iraq rebuilding effort.

I didn't want to go to Iraq to begin with, but I think if you're going to do something, do it right or don't do it at all. He said that they are now listening to the current Iraqi council as to how to handle the current insurgents, that's why we haven't had a strong response back to the attacks on our soldiers. I understand the fear that the Iraqi's will probably support the insurgency even more if that's the case, but I REALLY DOUBT that the current Iraqi council and the future government is going to be able handle it as well. Besides, how do we know FOR SURE that these people on this council are really looking out for the citizen's best interest or is it possible that they are somehow tied to Saddam Hussein as well? There's an awful lot of gaps in this whole war that don't add up to me and it starts from the beginning of the war.

the june 30 date is important and things will be better after that. as far as the speech, it was horrible and bland. as monica crowley said, the great war speeces are inspirational and firebrand.

he should have made a point to say that the people who had their hands cut off by saddam were being helped in the us
also, as pat caddell said, he didnt tell the people that they are being manipulated by the terrorists, in other words, attack the media in an indirect way.
if he get emotional and fights after this speech it was a good beginning, if this is all there is, it meant nothing

We know because we are going have an Embassy in all their major cities. It is called being the neighborhood watchdog. I found it kind of unique to have a ton of embassies, but it probably ain't a half bad idea, they better double as military bases though or else they will have trouble defending themselves.

he definitely needed to also say, as morris said, that every butcher killed in iraq, is one less butcher to kill us here. this was a speech written by a state dept beuaracrat that had no emotion or direct contact with the people. time is running out. he MUST tell people the truth.

One of you mentioned that at least he didn't say stay the course over and over. Did he say bring them to justice a million times? I hope not, but he says that so much.

Uh, CaluWxBill? We will have but ONE "Embassy" and several "Consulates"...just as we do in every country in which we maintain diplomatic relations.
