New Car

#1 Postby Stephanie » Sat Apr 24, 2004 4:40 pm

I've had a busy 4 day weekend so far, between the colonoscopy and now I bought myself a new car today! :D It's a 2004 Honda CRV - "Mojave" is the color. It's 4WD, automatic with a CD player, cassette and radio. You're not going to believe where the gear shift is - it's ON THE DASH! That was pretty wild!

It's my first "truck" and it rides really nice. It is roomier inside than it looks from the outside. Marty's son, Michael, bought my Honda Accord.

How COOL! CONGRATS!

I'm tellin' ya, we LOVE our new baby, the Explorer, went on our second road trip today to Gallup New Mexico, got 24.5 MPG out of the sucker and that was doing 85 MPH the WHOLE way on I-40!

Hmm?? I just bought a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS and love it. It is too big for Susans tastes. Is the CRV a smaller SUV? I was thinking about getting her one of those sicne she wants an SUV too for staying above the street flooding we get so often here. I got the Montero which is AWD/4WD for use as a chase vehicle also.

David - it is one of the smallest SUV's around, like the Toyota RAV4, though I think it's bigger than that. It really is roomy and I think that your wife would like it. It's the 3rd Honda I've owned and I've had three cars in total (the first was a Mazda Protege) that stayed in the family when I bought a new one. The miles per gallon averages 25 for highway which is what I drive mostly to Atlantic City.

Breeze - Actually I think I can "camp" in it. The back seats fold down into the floor and get this - under the mat in the trunk area there's a picnic table! LOL! It also includes another powerplug in the back.

Stephanie - I have a 98 Honda Civic, my third. First was a 76, then an 80. Drove a VW Jetta in between. When it was time for me to get a brand new car in 98, my husband thought I missed having a Honda. I thought I did too! So we bought a Civic. Now I miss owning a VW! Typical female, I don't know what I want. LOL I joke my car is nothing but a glorified lawnmower engine (we own a Honda mower too!). I have to downshift into 4th to merge onto the highway, to pass semi's, or pass any moving vehicle. And A/C has to be off. My kids also joke we need Flintstone power in moments like that. It's a very dependable car though, it just has no power! And I really miss my old Jetta. Always thought I'd love owning Honda's but if I had the opportunity to buy a brand new car today, I know for certain it would a VW - Jetta, Passat or Bug.

With my Accords, I could feel it when my A/C was on, but I didn't have a problem with speed. I think that the smaller cars can't handle the power of the A/C. It's funny, a friend of mine had a Chevrolet Spectrum ("rectum" she would refer to it as  ). She would say the same thing about the A/C and power and in NJ we get terrible humidity during the summer. Well, there was one time I had to bring my car in for service and what do I get as a rental car - the "rectum" . It was during the summer and I cussed that thing out the whole way home because I couldn't use the A/C due to what it did to the performance of the car. My friend and I had a good laugh about it though! :D
