I just wanted to remind you guys that my marathon is next weekend..

From 6:00pm on Friday till Noon on Saturday :)

Last year: 16 miles total in a 13 hour period..
I was dead @ 7:00 am so I dropped out lol

This year I plan on making it the whole 18 hours.. I'll bring enough money so I can feed myself those 18 hours plus I can leave and go get some breakfast since I figured out that we have 2-3 restaurants that are open like 24/7 {IHOP, Denny's and Waffle House}.

I'll probably get my breakfast at like 4 in the morning lol..

Anyway.. How many miles do you think I can get? lol

That's so wonderful you participate each year John! Keep it going! I also participate, but as a survivor. Yes I had colon cancer almost 5 years ago, my 5 year mark is next week. So the Relay I attend, mid-May, will be very special this year. That first year it was a year after my surgery, and I was pretty emotional. One lady had been a cancer survivor for something like 22 years! She was an inspiration to all of us.

My daughter who's a Junior has participated and spent the night with her Pride (national club that pledges to be drug/alcohol free) group. She's hoping to help organize an outing again this year. Haven't even heard if they're doing it, she's so busy, she tends to forget to tell me these things.

But tell me, does it rain each time you've done it? I swear for each Relay in my community, it's either been upper 30s, cold-cold, or rain. The people that spend the night just can't catch a break!

Last year we did it... It rained shortly before the Relay started.. and it was in the 40's at like 4:00 am so I was cold.. {I FORGOT A JACKET! lol..}

The forecast for next Friday night is clear skies and low 60's. I hope it pans out..

I also may be doing it all alone this year. Nobody sponsored me.. so I may be walking/running on my own. That's ok.. I'll have lots of friends there.. so I won't be lonely..

I'll give you guys a full wrapup next Sunday if you'd like.. {I plan on sleeping all of next Saturday after I get home.. I also hope I have my own apt. back by then lol.. I'm supposed to have it back soon..}

Two years ago Relay for Jefferson County was cut short for about 90 minutes as a tornado warning was issued for the area. My wife and I were home, at that point doing a couple of things when we heard the warning come across the radio. We tried to contact my mother-in-law up at the site via cell phone to tell her (since she works for ACS), to get them off of the track and inside the buildings up at the site, but her cell phone was off. We quickly got into the car and raced northward toward Brookville and warn them about the storm. By the time we got there (20 to 25 minutes), the storm was in full swing with heavy rain, small hail (about pea size) and strong wings. Luckily, no tornado dropped from the cell. There were chances of more storms throughout the night, so we left them my weather radio after we did a couple of laps. There was a lot of wind damage north of Brookville from the storm, but it was later determined to be straight line winds.
