We could have celebrated the towers being open for 31 years (April 4, 1973).

I know the people of New York are very sensitive about those buildings. But, I do not share in the significance of those two buildings, especially since so many people were killed in them on Sept. 11th.

Oops...sorry, I guess I should have clarified that he said it in 1973, not after 9/11.

I suppose, to me, that's what makes what the architect said so meaningful. The terrorists killed over 3000 people, destroyed what was built as a major symbol of world peace, and tried (but thankfully failed) to destroy a major symbol of our military might.

Thanks Shawn, that does shed a new light on what this man was going for. IMO, the architect failed. Even though they stood longer than even he thought they would on that fateful day.
