Breaking news--Rice will testify.
I'm glad to hear this. The pressure was building for her to testify in public, and it will be interesting to hear.

No, more a matter of trying to get to the truth Lindaloo - it's amazing, there are Republicans on that commission that were wondering why she wouldn't testify either. Yep, it was a Democrat conspiracy.

Breaking news--Rice will testify.
You know, talking about tantrums from the politicians, I have seen both sides act terribly. I was thinking yesterday how disgusted I am with both parties and their childish behavior, name calling, etc. Why can't politics be honest and above board? It's always been this way with each side blaming the other, but candidates from each party act badly. Why is that?

Come on Stephanie....what is Condi Rice going to say in public, that she did not say during her 4 hours of private testimony? This is simple an attempt to preen before the cameras and try to score political points. If this group cared about the truth, they would ask about why Clinton did not grab UBL, why Saudi sources funded half these hijackers and nothing is happening there? I lay that as much at the Bush Administration, as at the Democrats. Why the members of the intelligence committee did not demand more action? Why Clark did not scream out before 9/11? Why do the refuse to make public, Clarks private testimony? Why did only one panelist mention the differences in his testimony and his past statements?
This is pure politics run amok!!! Meanwhile, I'm afraid we are going to get creamed again and more Americans will die. The signs we missed before 9/11 are there before us again, but we sit and play politics for some group of over-the-hill group of political hacks, both Democrat and Republican.

I agree Jara - it is politics at it's worst and until BOTH sides stop pointing fingers at each other it is only going to get worse. In a way, I am happy to see the Dems and Reps come together at least on this one issue. Perhaps nothing else new will be said but at least there's a meeting of the minds here. I'm hoping it's a baby step towards something better.
I'm just as disgusted by all of the political hacks on both sides Jara. I don't think that anything of substance will be ironed out because they're too busy playing the he said/she said game and worrying about the next election (i.e. which SIDE will win). I really wonder if we listed all of the priorities and viewpoints of all of the elected officials and put them next to all of the priorities and viewpoints of all of the people of America, whether there would be a substantial gap or not. Anyway, I'm rambling, but I do think that we are on the same page.
