What do you think of a triple xxx zone on the internet

Capital Report on CNBC did a story on Friday about how, in order to protect children, some people are advocating moving all stuff sites with .com and making them go to a .xxx domain name. That way kids won't get innudated by the horrible stuff. The system would be voluntary, but at least this way you wouldn't get stuff by typing whitehouse.com.
One problem I see is that google searches still bring up horrible stuff. As a MT, I do searches for breast cancer and stuff and get some of the most horrid stuff imaginable.

If it could be enforced, I think it would be a nice idea, but smut peddlers will do whatever they can to get their sites pulled up. That's where they make their money

As long as it's voluntary it's useless. You can't make it mandatory because of all of the lawsuits that would result so let's face it, it's not happening...

At Face value it sounds great, but it must be mandatory IMO, which would be almost impossible to enforce because it smacks of censorship.

If the "powers that be" go with this proposal, it opens up a Pandora's Box of censorship, the likes of which we haven't seen since WW II...but may yet, IF Kerry is elected. Not so much the "xxx" smut peddlers (who always suppport the liberals), but religious organizations, political opponents, pro-choice, pro-Second Amendment, etc.
Too much power in the hands of too few...not if I have anything to say, and/or DO, about it.

I think there should be more control. I've lost contact with someone I made friends with on a colon cancer board. Her husband was a recovering patient and we struck up a friendship. But then I no longer heard from her. Did a search on her name, not much. Did a search on her email addy and whoa nelly, a nasty site popped up. Good thing my kids were in bed. I've since decided to stop contact with this woman, for fear that site is something she started. I know we never really 'know' friends from Internet sites/message boards, and call me naive, but I really feel very comfortable with all of you. But that one incident scared me off!

My vote is to get rid of xxx material. I know the argument about censorhsip, but come on. That mess is sick and sent to us unwanted. What kind of women are those? Yucky!!!
