After much discussion, going over monthly expenditures, business needs, SAR needs, we're gonna BITE the bullet and buy a NEW vehicle, besides, with the new tax credit, we will get the FULL purchase price less 10% BACK on our federal taxes next year, so we CAN'T go wrong!

Spent all morning out shopping and decided on a Chevy Avalanche Maroon in color, 4x4, the whole package....we made a smokin' deal, we came home, pulled up the dealers invoice and WOW......times must be hard!

I SWORE that I would NEVER own a new car/pickup but like I said, with the new tax incentive, WHY NOT? We're taking a home equity loan out, paying cash for it, then pay off the loan next Feb when our taxes are done.

I'm a year away from buying, I hope. In the younger years it was a different (not always new) car every 3 years. These days we rotate one of the two every 4 years.

No amount of tax credit or incentives has ever worked well enough for me to be able to make more than one payment on one car at a time.

I own an Avalanche and I believe Ticka does as well. You'll absolutely love it; it's truly a great vehicle. It also rides like a Cadillac .

That's GREAT to hear.....we're waiting to hear from the dealer, they're looking for one to fit our needs, we don't need ALL the bells and whistles...take for instance, the DVD player, the only ones who will be sitting in the back are the dogs, ya know, on second thought, maybe we SHOULD order it with the DVD......Macy, my dog, is the ONLY dog I've ever seen that LOVES to watch tv....seriously, she'll sit in front of the tv when we watch Animal Planet, dog shows etc and is GLUED to the stupid tv. Normal people have dog boogers on the windows of cars/pickups, WE have dog boogers on the TV "LOL!"

One question if I may...is yours a 4x4 and if so, have you had any problems with with Auto 4x4? That's my only concern, all the 4x's I've owned have had locking hubs. These new fangled, computerized vechiles kinda spook me, I mean, my safety is in the hands of a COMPUTER??

I have a Z71 with and I've never encountered a problem with the automatic 4x4 feature. Albeit you will probably use it much more than I do with the snow and mountains. It's great to be able to put the 4x4 on while driving on the interstate during a heavy rain just for the extra assurance, and you can be going 70mph and still switch into 4x4. Are you planning on getting the cladded or WBH (no cladded) version? I have the cladding and I chose it because it stands out from all other trucks. You don't have to worry about dings in your doors from other cars either because a door will hit the cladding first .

We were approved for the refinance yesterday and are going today to order the Z71 Package WITH the cladding, skid plates, mainly due to the rough terrain we have drive in on searches. Our police unit doesn't have the skid plates SO....we've decided to use the Avalanche on searches WAY out in the boonies.

Yeah, that's what the salesman said about the 4x4, with the touch of a bottom at 70 mph the auto 4x4 kicks in......sounds GREAT, can't wait now!

WELL....you know me, wishy washy, instead of an Avalanche, we bought an '03 Ford Explorer XLT today, we pick it up on Monday. After looking at the tax break again, gas prices, the FINAL price on the Avalanche, we decided to go with a smaller SUV. We won't get the tax credit BUT, we'll save a TON of money on fuel costs. It's Pewter in color, FULLY LOADED, A/C in the back for the dogs...CD player, I mean, this sucker is FULLY loaded, auto 4x4. SO.....there we have it! I'll take some photos on Monday, Tues when we get it, I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO excited I can't stand it The Ford dealer where we bought it at gave us SO dang many rebates etc, that we COULDN'T afford NOT to buy it....final cost, out the door, with tax, lic, etc. 18K......for an '03 model, that's FANTASTIC!
