On February 20 President Bush used his recess appointment authority to appoint a well-qualified pro-life Judge to the 11th Circuit.
President Bush has the authority to use his executive power of appointment to select a judge for an appointment; however the judge cannot be appointed for a life term as are all other judges that get confirmed by the Senate. The term will be through the remainder of the 108th Congress. However if the Judge does get confirmed through the Senate in the next year, their term will then be for life.
There currently are many districts around the country with a "judicial emergency" because of so many judicial vacancies. This recent appointment is to a seat which has been declared a "judicial emergency."
This judge, like so many others, has been repeatedly blocked by pro-abortion Senators from receiving a full floor vote.
The pro-abortion Senators are using a Senate procedure known as the "filibuster" to block President Bush's pro-life judicial nominees from receiving a full floor vote that they deserve.
Pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood are encouraging pro-abortion Senators to block President Bush's nominees at all costs.
In a statement on Planned Parenthood's website Gloria Feldt, president of PPFA, said:
"This is the second time in just over a month that the President has circumvented the legislative process to install a judge whose contempt for women's health is a menace to us all."

The National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) is also weighing in against this well qualified judge.
On their website, their press release states: "
...President Bush today appointed one of the most virulently anti-choice and anti-privacy judicial activists to the Eleventh Circuit federal bench ... The truly abominable decision is to give this hardened crusader against a woman's right to choose a seat on the federal bench. This outrageous appointment puts a judge who opposes abortion even in cases of rape or incest in a frightening position of power over women's lives in Alabama , Florida and Georgia ."

President Bush gets my vote for this cause alone. He is to be commended for his continued fight against the killing of innocent babies, despite the massive organizational groups determined to keep infanticide legal.
Keep on appointing GB....your message is loud and clear.
Pro abortion groups shooting their mouths off again.
