LOL Shawn! Our DW runs everyday, sometimes twice on weekend days. We rarely carryout. But if you'll notice lots of good family sitcom scenes take place either at the dinner table or at the kitchen sink, everyone pitching in getting the job done. That's what's wrong with our society - abolish Dishwashers!!!! Just kidding....

LOL! I remember Eight Is Enough featured the kitchen sink and lots of dishes in quite a few of their episodes. :)

Shawn - when it comes to TV sitcoms/drama's we're sure on the same page. How did you know I was thinking of EIE when I posted that? I also thought of My Three Sons - lots of dish washing went on in that kitchen. Not to mention all the Knots Landing kitchens - it seemed no one used a dishwasher!

We/I do dishes by hand anyways, wouldn't know how to act with a dishwasher!

Dennis - while we're on this subject, I ran out of DW detergent once. Called my next door neighbor (immaculate home, vacuums every single day, entire house!) to borrow just a cup. No more. She didn't even have DW detergent on hand. I said what? All our homes on our street came with DW's when first built 15 years ago!!! She then explained she doesn't use her DW. It's still practically brand new. I think I said - oh, really..... She then explained she hates to see dirty dishes sitting around, so after each snack, meal, even one cup of coffee, those dishes get promptly washed, dried and put away. So consequently, I've occasionally wanted to shout out - hey Cheryl, your kids left a dirty folk on the counter!!!! LOL She has hosted large Thanksgiving and Holiday dinners and I've just pictured her barely getting thru the meal, anticipating washing all those dishes right away. So there's my dishwashing story of the day! And oh our house? The opposite, not immaculate by any means, not filthy either. Just a lived in look. In fact, we're on our second DW already!!! LOL

I am saddened by Madge's passing. I liked her. However, I HAVE NO URGE TO WASH THE DISHES BY HAND!!!!! :roll:

Automatic Dishwasher? We had one growing up. Me and my brother.

Now, it's me and the kids. I hate the smell of the chemicals in those things.
