Kerry will win tonight, but if you look at the polls... they had Kerry winning, by 25 percent and Edwards in 3rd. :o This isn't over yet.

Edwards could be the ONE Democratic candidate that does stand a chance against Kerry.
If only "Gunga" Dean, Kucinich and Sharpton would be so kind as to graciously bow OUT, we might just get somewhere in the process...and hopefully have a real debate on ISSUES, not BS.
I want to know what the DNC platform looks like...the sooner, the better.

After the narrow win by Kerry over Edwards now comes super tuesday on march 2nd which includes 10 states which has big states NY,California,Ohio,Georgia will decide the nomination as 1,151 delegates will be at stake and Kerry is way ahead in that delegate count.Edwards has to win many of the 10 states on supertuesday to then have a chance to get Kerry in the delegate count.

What I don't like about how the media has been viewing this (and the general public too) is that it doesn't matter if you WIN or not. I mean... eventually you have to win some states, but the fact the Kerry WON last night does NOT mean he gets all the delegates. Edwards received 24 delegates to Kerry's 30.

edwards doing well is great news for bush.
1-it forces kerry to spend all his money before the general election
2-dem primary voters are ultra liberal. kerry and edwards will now have a war who over can go the most left in order to get the nomination.
3-edwards is not popular in north carolina, the reason he did not run for re-elction
4-edwards voting record is far left
5-gore lost every southern state in 2000, including ark, and tn. gore, a southerner, lost even though the economy was great for 8 years. edwards has no chance in the south, especially once it is brought up how liberal his voting record is.
6-great news for republicans and bush!!

Yeah and ole Kerry thought it was in the bag. And this is exactly why I do not believe in any polls.

Disagree... but respect your opinion. I think Edwards is 10x's more electable against Bush than Kerry.

the dnc platform will be far left as usual, soldier. even more so this year. edwards voting record is as far left as kerry's. the democrat party is made up of numerous far left single interest groups, and now edwards and kerry will have go as far left as they can to get their votes

I disagree Wx247. He will be no competition IMO. Because he is a wolf in sheeps clothing. He runs with the liberals too. When he runs for election he tells the voters what they want to hear. The people of NC know this now.

To tell you the truth, anyone wanting to vote Dem in the upcoming election is totally screwed. Out of the millions of people in this country registered Democrat, you would think they could have found at least one decent candidate....

I agree blizz. My parents are both Democrats and the thought of Kerry in the White House makes them shudder. Quite comical to hear that coming from them. lol. Surprised me.

from larry sabato, political scientist at UVA:
The Crystal Ball can't decide whether the President from Central Casting is John Edwards or John Kerry. Edwards is the one with a boyish look and regional twang. He's good on television, though not as great as advertised, and best of all, he's Southern.
Remember, every winning Democratic ticket in the 20th century save one (FDR in 1940) had at least one Southerner on it, and Democrats generally recognize the importance of this. It's early, but Edwards has a long way to go to become that Southerner for 2004.
His weakness in North Carolina is palpable, where surveys show he might not be able to carry his own home state in November (shades of Al Gore). And fairly or not, Edwards sometimes comes across as shallow, quite possibly a product of his unusual--for a serious presidential candidate--absence of elective office experience. (First office: U.S. Senate, elected only four years ago.)
Edwards is trying the "I'm not a creature of Washington" approach, and maybe the populism will catch on. Yet after 9/11, Edwards' thin resume is a major handicap, and a multimillionaire trial lawyer may not have an easy time portraying himself as the vox populi (voice of the people).
The conventional wisdom had Edwards doing poorly compared to the early expectations, but the first-quarter fundraising receipts changed the chatter. Edwards came in #1, even ahead of expected money frontrunner John Kerry, with $7.4 million raised. Granted, a large majority of the money came from Edwards' fellow trial lawyers. But it was an impressive total however one qualifies it. (Apparently, a small portion of the money may have been raised illegally, with trial lawyers providing money to employees of their firms so that those employees could make large donations to Edwards' war chest. How serious a scandal this is remains to be seen.)
Edwards is unquestionably back in the game, if he were ever out of it.

Well... of course, you would agree if you were a Republican or a fan of Bush. And I respect that. However, Edwards has such a better shot at beating Bush than Kerry. Will he? Probably not, but I think he has a MUCH better chance than Kerry. Why? Look at all the exit information. Independents swing Edwards' way. Look at his favorability/unfavorability rating vs. Kerry.

IMHO, the best thing that can happen (on either side of the aisle) is for there to be multiple candidates in a primary. This way no one has a cake walk for the nomination. I am a firm believer that McCain made Bush a better candidate.

I believe it will be Kerry winning..but Edwards will slow some of Kerry's momentum

In the end if Edwards doesn't get the nomination Kerry will call him for VP.

Garrett do not tell me that I disagree because of the Party or because I support Bush. That line is getting old. I am fighting a militant Republican in my state right now. Does not matter to me who or what party. Kerry and Edwards are both worthless wolves IMO.
