As I am sitting here reading posts and having fun with a great bunch of people, a thought comes to mind.

My grandparents both passed away last year, within a couple of months of each other. I had the opportunity to buy their house, whcih I spent many a great moment in.

I would sit on the porch and watch the weather and clouds with my grandfather. We would try to predict when the storm was going to hit and how bad it was going to be. I can remember doing this from the time that I was old enough to know what we were doing.

This year I plan to spend many a night sitting on the porch thinking about those times. (only now I will have the car ready to go just in case).

It is thoughts like this that make weather and storm chasing something special to me.

My memories are of my terrified grandparents walking down across the field to our house when storms were coming. One might say it could have made me afraid. Instead, I think it piqued my curiousity...!

Thank you for sharing that wonderful tale. I too remember sitting watching clouds and storm formations with my grandfather.

I now love to lie on the hood of my car with my 3 year old son and look at the clouds. Hopefully he can learn to love the weather as much as his mom does.

The house that I am living in now has a screened front porch. During thunderstorms I will go outside and sit and watch all the weather around me. I am facing the south - so I get to see and experience those tropical thunderstorms from the GOM. I just love to do this - one day - I am going to try my hand at photograph and try to capture a lightning picture.
